hi everyone

I just wanted to say hi to all the UW photographers in singapore

I'm visiting singapore from california, I'm here for 4 weeks until feb 19th, although I'll be diving in the phillipines from feb 2nd to 10th

I could even be talked into doing a local dive, how's the local macro life? anywhere with more than 3 meters vis this time of year? I'll go check out the local marine life thread.

We have a local site - Pulau Hantu - and somone has posted some great macro shots not too long ago. Viz is generally bad but you may wanna take a chance. Not a good time for West Malaysia too as it is still the monsoon season.

Hi TS.... bad news for you.

S'pore isn't known locally as a good diving location. Even the locals normally goes over to Malaysia to do their Open Waters..... Too much shipping traffic in too small an area :(

Like - kkgoxplore - said..... Pulau Hantu is about as much as Singapore have to a dive site. There are some interesting Nudi and even Frogfish there.... but bad Vis and Strong Current make diving there quite a problem.

thanks guys

yeah, I knew there were limited diving options here, guess I'll stick to the phillipines :)

although at home we go out in 3m vis all the time

but 3m looks like its the maximum at pulau hantu, and you need to arrange a special boat trip there

Don't really need to arrange a special boat trip there. Just join an existing group who are going out?

i'm keen too! any grps going out to hantu this month? i know that hantu blog is having 1 on the 22 feb. but any groups going before the 22th feb?

Singapore is not well known for diving - but better known for getting to places for diving as there are many connecting flights to nearby countries for great diving.

I entirely agree - it's my 4th visit here, and each time I visit I take a dive trip somewhere different, it's so much fun!

HI, Some locals will thing I am mad but I have dived Bedok Jetty , Lots of fishing line to contend with, Never used my knife so much in one dive. Low vis but some intersting stuff, but with camera gear and strobes probebly not worth your while.

Did another in Labrador Park near Kepple Marina, Loads of silt around the entrance to the Star Vrigo Harbour but if you go down along the waterfront there is a jetty which has some unusual stuff, nudi branches and other small corals.

Also another option is the Jetty in the north at Punngol, (spelling)? there is a war memorial, Last I was there the vis was about 5 mts and again interesting, low current so you can dive solo without too much trouble (did I say that?) But always dive with a buddy. it is not to deep about 5 mts +.
Otherwise you can check out Batam resort Hotel, Last time I looked they did have a dive shop there run by a French guy, They used to take people down the Riau Islands and there is some fantastic wrecks and macro life there.

Best you take a flight to Phuket and dive up there great time of the year, check out www.whitemanta.com for scheaduels.

Anyway hope that helps.
