[Vireon] My amateur shoots

Not so sure if this photo should be under streets or under the abstract forum. Let me know if it should be under Abstract. Thanks.

I refuse to believe that this is the work of an amateur. Some seasoned photographers I know can't even achieve what you've achieved in these few shots. The thing about your pictures that gives you away, is that they all have a focal point. The photographs of most beginners lack focus. I disagree with the rest of the guys that have commented on this thread. If you're an amateur as you say you are, you're doing a great job!

(But personally, I think you're faking. At least 2 - 3 years of experience shooting, in my opinion.)

Of course, some of the photos have been unnecessarily PP-ed, for example the shot above. Leave it alone! It's good enough.

Looks like you know the rules of composition already. I can see that very obviously in your work.

Keep up the good work!

Thank you for your comments. Previously I only took family and holiday snap shots using compact camera. I only started more serious work from end of 2010 when I bought my first DSLR. And from then on I have been reading a bit and studying more of other peoples' shots and also learning a lot from Clubsnap. Looking back at my earlier photos, I can see a difference. I guess I started out as an amateur level -10 when I began this thread, but hopefully now is at amateur level -7. Still got more things to learn, in terms of colors, lighting, captioning etc. Thanks to everyone's support by visiting my thread :)

I hope you got the story wrong, for her sake... There are too many broken hearts in the world already... :)
But it looks like that, judging from her expression... An excellent capture of emotion in this photograph.

A very nice, progressive series that shows how the word "amateur" drowns in the face of "passion"!

Thank you very much for your comments.

I use this thread to document my learning journey in photography, so that I can see how I progress, and how my style change along the way. Hopefully, this thread will also be useful to anyone who is interested in a photographer's journey and use this as a learning tool too. I see a long road ahead for me :)
