Video formats.

so i have a sony-cx160 camcorder & i use a iMAC , i using iMovies to edit my videos. Was wondering which video format is best for Youtube & viewing with imac screen with HD in youtube.

i read that AVC files won't open in iMovies or quicktime , so i have a converter to do it . i was wondering which format is best/better in terms of quality video .

i always convert to .mov with h.264 codec at 1080p 24fps.

It sounds like mov with h.264 codec is the most campatible with the iMovie for editing.

I am not sure the detail profile settings and frame rate for 1080i or 1080p, anyway, I usually directly choose the right output format and wait for the conversion finished.
