Thought of posting it in the m43 section earlier ;p

Seems to have gotten buy-in from a couple of prominent video/film folks. Still not keen on the idea of being locked into a specific format though, like the SLR Magic lenses. Feels like if I wanted to get a cinema lens, I'd want one which would work for anything from FF and smaller. These days, who knows what your next camera is going to be...

Good concept but if you calculate the DOF, T2.2 isn't bokehlicious enough for M43 format especially for the range of focal lengths offered. But if they make the lens faster, the size will tend towards fullframe territory.
I think, if weight and bulk is a consideration, adapters/speedboosters can be actually a better option. One adapter saves you weight on every lens you carry due to the shorter flange distance. If you look at Samyang lenses for example, those designed for full frame but are factory fitted for M43 or E mount as an after thought are actually even larger than the combination of a manual focus nikon plus the appropriate adapter.

Considering the many confounding factors at work in this market segment, I will buy a dedicated M43 kit only if they are F1.4 or faster.

Correct. 1.4 on a M43 is only like a F4/F5.6 in terms of DOF and F2.8 in terms of light intake. Thats why i still hold my 5D3 to do super low light situations although all my video is on the GH4 already.

And also the resale value of this should be pretty $hit unless it becomes a cult followed lens endosed by big players like philip bloom.

I'd say when you are at a level when you are actually regularly using cinema primes, then you should have unlimited lighting budget already. Hhahah. this set looks interesting though....

Veydra primes are on sale now. some test footage from the manufacturer: https://vimeo.com/124367021

they look to have impressive build quality, and so far those who have received it have not been disappointed. I actually think I may purchase them. waiting for more reviews.

25mm and above are usable with the JVC SL300 Super35 sensor MFT camera!!!!
