Valuebasket reliability/experience(NOT recommended/trusted)

I searched for Canon 6D, their site stated there are 4 units available. So, I made the purchased somewhere in the 1st week of Aug. after 3 days, then they update the order has been approved. And the next couple of days, nothing heard from them. 10 days later, there's still no update of my purchase so I chatted them via the live chat.

One thing about them is that their customer service is very good. Their excuse was that there's a high orders and they are clearing the back log orders and will send out my order as soon as they can. But to me was that, that's the 'lamest' excuse! After some pressuring, the guy offered me the upgrade of my deliver to 'express'. And will be delivered to me the following week. (I chatted with them over the weekend).

So on Wednesday, there's still no news and it'll take at least 3 working days for FedEx or DHL to be delivered from Hong Kong or Australia. Then I started talking to their customer service again. Ad this time, they explained that the warehouse is full with orders and the stock have ran out. I was really amused with their excuses and shoot them directly that its a con job! 1 customer service staff said the stock is ther and the other said its not. And offered to upgrade me to 'express' delivery again and will deliver to me the following week.

That's where I knew that they are buying time and sound fishy. I immediately sent a cancellation and inform Paypal to stop the payment. And luckily the order was stopped and the amount was returned to my credit card the next few days.

After reading the postings about valuebasket, I start to have doubts.
They are offering in shop 36 months warranty. It looks attractive, but if their delivery and stock service is so bad, I don't dare to imagine the waiting period of an item under repair or 1 to 1 exchange.

Will they say "you have to wait 3 months for the item to be repaired"?

Well... from what I have heard and read in this thread... you will be lucky if they actually tell you a date on when you can get your item repaired. Most probably they would not even promise you anything and you would need to keep bugging them every week to get a status quote on your equipment and after five months you decided to give up and come in here to complain

I have bought from them. Bought a 5D Mark 3 and EF 16-35mm Wide Angel Lens.

My experience with them was quite good the prices are reasonable and delivery was relatively fast- they used Fedex to deliver to my place.

I will say do not buy from Valuebasket, I have an outstanding refund for 3 months already. Already conditioned my mind of not getting it back. Always writing email weekly and always saying they are processing it. Avoid the headache for a little money saved buy locally.

Was doing a search on review regarding Value Basket and discovered this thread. I actually attempted to purchase something from them before in 2012 - though not camera equipment. They did exactly the same thing, receiving the payment, and kept on coming up with excuses to delay delivery or shipping of product. Now is 2013, actually almost end of 2013 already and they are still like that. Terrible, yeah they should be avoided.

Submitted order on the 13th this month.
They dispatched my order on the 20th thrgh Toll Global Express and it reached Singapore on the 22nd.
Supposed to receive it today but there's a delivery delay.... Will update you guys on the condition
of the camera once I received it...

Valuebasket is okay la. But they are notorious for their super slow shipping. Got my 6D with a 50mm lens from them. And thats only after i friggin call and call then and smash through all their excuses. My take? Make a hellotta noise if you havent received your item within like 10 days? Serious. I got my package by DHL from valuebasket. So if you make noise, it'll probably work. Haha

I will prefer paying a bit more but get to enjoy the peace of mind.

I order the samyang 85mm f1.5 from them in 16Dec thru Ebay singapore, I received the lens exactly 8 days later (24Dec) by DHL. I don't know other people experience with this seller but mine is very good. Really appriciate that the manage the deliver before Xmas. I can send the receipt if anyone need any proof. Merry Xmas

Different pple have diff buying experience, but ultimately, it seem that consumers usually gauge how good a shop is by its worst service(s). If on the average, it is rated as not really good (slow delivery, bad customer service, rude staff, etc.), consumers would usually avoid the shop unless, of course, it offer good products at really low price.
