Hello. I am one of the norm ppl who uses an slr. So I am not so RF orientated.

Need some good recommendations of RFs at a reasonable price and where to get them. Thanks. :)

asked the same question too!

can try cameras like yashicas, or FEDs. most of them could be obtained for under $100. ;)

russian leica knock-offs. :bsmilie:
Me not too familiar with the terms... Sorry, but what do you exactly mean?

Quite interested actually, wld like to know where to get a gd rangefinder kit at a reasonable price.

I suppose the Bessa R3A is quite good although I haven't used one before.

Voigtlander lenses seem to be getting great reviews and relatively affordable.

Russia made rangefinders
These were NOT shameless copies of Leica M.
They made their own style.
Due to their Central economy most funds were diverted to weapon spending.
So not much $ for camera making. So cams quite rough.

Russia has great technology, way above Singapore's. They can send man into space, make hydrogen bombs, nuclear submarines, their AK47 since WW2 is super reliable 7.62mm weapon.

Get the rangefinder Bessa L for only HK$300 if you buy the 15mm at HK$2800 from Joseph Yao

the bessa L is scale focus only IIRC. It's not a rangefinder.

Joseph has a great deal going for a Bessa R + 35 Skopar Classic for under $600. It's a good beginner setup without being too hard on the wallet.

A Bessa R is about $150. A used R2 is about $500+. A mint used R2A/R3A approx $700+. The Bessas represent good value for money throughout its entire range of bodies and lenses. You definitely get more than what you pay for and it'd be prudent for all new RF shooters to get acquainted with the range.

Steve Gandy has a lot of info on his page... http://www.cameraquest.com/voigtsys.htm
