UWA for A7(R) ?

A7 with CV12

It seems certain conditions will cause a very slight magenta cast.
Maybe it has to do with what available light it is.
Easy enough removal with the LR adjustment brush.

I'm beginning to like the SEL10-18 more and more now with the right distortion correction profile, and also noticed that switching OSS off makes the edges sharper.

If you using a tripod, should disable stabilization.

My comment applies to hand held shots too. Main reason probably cuz the OSS efficiency is limited to the apsc covered regions. The Oss is tripod sensing.

Very nice pics as usual bro ricleo, it was mainly due to your shots that convinced me to finally settle for the SEL1018, after ditching my disappointing CV15 and foregoing the bulky Samyang 14mm. I think the SEL1018 is still the best uwa option for now, considering the size and weight, plus the benefit of AF. I can get nice coverage with my copy from 12~17mm.

That's really nice bro.

Was looking at either the 15mm or 12mm for my a7 as well.

*crap forgot to quote pic - refering to pinholecam

CV15 can't work well on A7.
Other than cast, there is iq smudging on the sides and corners.

So 12mm is the smallest and widest that works.

12mm on the 7R? How will that work out?

not sure how the cv 12 will work on the a7r, but the SEL 10-18 works nicely at 12mm with distortion corrected using lightroom profile.

Ric, nice shot.
Seems 10-18 is a good option.

As far as I've read and seen samples of, IQ is ok.
But the magenta cast becomes much more obvious.

This can be rectified at post with LR flat field plugin, but I don't have this issue on A7, so don't use it to save time.

thanks JK.

here's another one, SEL 10-18 without distortion correction as it would cut away the cbd buildings.

the tell tale signs of A7 sensor reflection is there in the street lights and some of the brighter cbd lights like the DBS tower, maybank.

A couple of shots taken by my son's steady hands, with his A7R+SEL1018.

Looking sharp! Post-processing or directly from your A7R?

These are all ooc jpegs, no pp done. However he had his fair share of misfocused shots as well.Too bad I don't have his skills haha.

Lucky shots! Anyway these shots are quite good, I must say!

pretty good for handheld! OSS on or off? i find IQ better with OSS off
