With digital camera nowadays offer HD video quality & the ability to zoom when taking video.

Would you use your digital camera as your video camera?

of cos, HD offers better quality and FPS (or should i say there will not be any lagging)?.
but yes, i will still use my digital camera for recording videos.
unless the videos are important...

Can u imaging urself holding a dslr to take video? It is soooooooooooo stupid!

as above said. it all depends on the user. For me, i rather have dedicated camcorder and dedicated camera because each have their own features which makes them good in what they do.

Why not?Use a D90 or a 5D MK 2 lah.Bigger sensor would mean better IQ i think...24 FPS is quite OK for smooth movies.

sometimes I do use it on tours as I don't have a camcorder...
sometimes you need a little video to spice things up...

yupz. I use my digi cam as video for casual shots. but if it's an impt video, a camcorder can be better.

I am using a Panasonic FZ50, even though it is not a DSLR, it is size at about the same as a Canon 1000D.

fyi... 5Dmk2 came out. full HD recording. if your DSLR has it, why not, when there's a need to.

Uhm.. No Video Cam, so use digi cam.. Infact, I bought this 80IS so I can use as a digi cam, as well as being my baby camera for when DSLR is.. impractical.

Quite acceptable, no?

Quite good.... if you did not tell me it is taken from a digital camera, I would have thought that it is from a Video Camera :)

I have only one problem with using DSLR as video camera.

While taking videos, I cannot take photos.

With HD, you can try to grab some shots after the video.... ;)

I use my Canon PowerShot A650 IS Video Mode to make underwater DvDs of my Scuba Diving trips..... for my diving Kakis all the time.

Same.... Otherwise, I prefer the videos from D90 compared to my old Panasonic DV camera.

Yeah.. if full HD, it would be almost a 2MP picture which is good enough for 4R.

You can try the old S5is or the new Canon PowerShot SX1 IS... it allows you to take photos while recording video...
