Using afs lenses on slr

Hi guys, I have an enquiry on using afs lenses on slr(fm2n to be exact). Is it workable? I know we won't be able to change the aperture(without aperture ring) but what if we stick to just one aperture? Thanks!

if i'm not wrong, unless you "tape open" the stop-down lever, all shots will be at min aperture (typically in the range of f/16-f/22). when you mount your lens on the F body, it will open up the aperture wide-open for your TTL view and focusing. but when you trigger or press the preview button, the aperture closes to aperture setting... in the case of the FM2n, it is what ever is set on the lens. Being a G lens, it will close to min aperture.

i have heard of ppl taping the spring loaded stop-down lever open or stuffing something there to hold it open... but at your own risk.

hope this helps.

I see. Thanks. Great information. Guess I'll just stick to those manual focus lenses :(

you can use afs lenses on your slr except those designated with G & DX lenses.

U can use afs and g mount lenses. Only issue u can control apperture.

I have used my 70 200 vr 2 on my fm2 but it only shoots at f 2.8.

A friend of mine has done similar stuff with his FA.

In the fm2 udont have to pull the lever down it automatically opens wide. There is a latch in the fm2 that does this

not spilling the beans or flaming but when G lenses are mounted the apertures will be opened to its largest for full aperture indexed metering but the moment you shoot it will close down to its smallest.
You would have noticed the camera's metered exposure is set for the smallest aperture and you have no control over its setting.
Have you seen the photos taken with them? or did you and your friend just try "blank" shots?

No issue with F5 & F6 though.

Had no issues. Images came out perfectly fine mate! I did it a long time ago so not quite sure where the negs are would have surely uploaded them.

Anyways. The main issue with g lenses is that manualfocus is a main the rear!

But the. Again i shoott at high iso and in broad daylight so an f22 would have still given me images.

the nikon FA fires at full aperture at program and shutter priority
