Used M8.2

Ben Photo is on Ground Floor next to P&G and the Isle Cafe.
...PENINSULA SHOPPING CENTER #01-K34
The one on Funan Centre side of the road.

I went there (Peninsula Plaza and Shopping) today. Could not find Benphoto on 2nd floor.

I went there today. I only saw a M8 box stated "Demo Set" and its price is S$4,800.00. Is its a bit high?

That's the price I was quoted by 2 dealers before I got my M9. But hard to say if it is a "good" price bec not many M8.2 sets around in the market. Do a search on Clubsnap database to get a better feel perhaps?

A brand new M8 from Alan Photo will be about SGD5.6K.
Jack/Ben Photo quoted me "demo-set" M8.2 with 24-month International (not local) Warranty for SGD6.3K when I enquired for my friend.

Used M8s are around SGD3.5K to SGD4K depending on condition.

I saw a M8.2 (black paint) at Leslie/Prime Camera yesterday. Didnt ask for price but it looks to be in quite good condition.

Good luck with the hunt!

Went to Prime today and saw the Black M8.2 on display. The unit is very new. I checked with the guy and he said he forgot the exact price and it should be around $5k.

I have checked the price from Prime today (19/02). The price of M8.2 is $5,900.00. I saw some items in the windows and found that the price is very high. For example, Canon 50mm f/1.8 is selling at $150 & Canon 100m Macro is selling at $699. I can buy the brand new at the price lower than their listed price.

I have also checked the price from Alan Photo Funan. They have the stock of brand new M8 and M8.2. The selling price of M8 is $5,900.00 and M8.2 is $7,900.00. Not sure whether it is the actual price as I just walked in and asked about it.

I think a used M8 is a worthwhile buy. M8.2 is not really worth it. When I was considering what Digital M to buy, I would have bought a used M8 if I did not buy the M9. My 2 cents.

Wow... The price of used M8 and M8.2 are so cheap in Hong Kong.

http://www.hklfc.com/forum/?o=topic&...d=42103&page=1 (in Chinese)

Exchange rate S$1 to HK$5.50

If you are buying a used camera, it is important to buy from someone trustworthy. Some may be very cheap but one needs to be careful because you may end up with a big servicing bill. :)

Thanks for the advice.

The OP of the link is a reputable authorized Lecia dealer in Hong Kong (http://www.lhphotollection.com/). The advantages of buying camera from a shop vs personal are the shop checked the condition of the camera (especially I don't how to check) before taking in and the shop provides few month warranty. Also unlike personal, the shop won't disappear overnight (still possible). BTW, this shop is also selling well conditioned used lenses. You may take a look.
