Thanks. I am not familiar with the camera shops, except Cathay & John316. Is it a reputable shop?

This shop deals with mainly 2nd stuff

The boss is call Jack.. a trustworthy chap

It at 1st level where the coffee shop is.. can't miss it

Jack is asking for $5.4K for a local set M8.2 Black with some warranty left to run.
Can negotiate price with him.

You guys think I can get a new or used M8.2 cheaper in Hong Kong? Was initially thinking about a new M8 as price has fallen, but abit worried about reliability issues....

I am in HK now. I could not find any used M8.2 here. I checked with a Leica authorized dealer, the guy told me no more new M8.2 available except the PRC special edition (HK$60,000). He said the chance is no much but I can check with other dealers to see any unsold item.

I have also checked the online store (http://www.9days.hk/) and ebay HK but still could not find that's why I check any used M8.2 available in Singapore.

The reason of not getting the M8.2 is same as you, that is worrying about the reliability issues, the crop factor and also do not know how to choose a Leica lenses especially the used one. LOL...

did u try tin cheung?

saw several m8 around the shops... not sure if its m8 or m8.2

The shop I was referring is Tin Cheung. Now they only have the M8.2 PRC special edition, which is HK$60,000.00. The M9 is out of stock. They have a long wait list.

Thanks for all the response & advice folks!
Looks like I may have to look further (i.e. US) as quite a few used M8.2 can be found there....

GFong, in HK, is a new M8.2 comparably cheaper than elsewhere, or they only have the M8.2 PRC edition?

They don't have the new M8.2. They only have the M8.2 PRC edtion. Besides, you can't even get a M9 in Hong Kong as they run out of stock.

Anyone know the history of the M8.2 at Jack's Ben Photo?
It was purchased from Alan Photo with slightly less than one-year of warranty to run.

I was getting lots of "encouragement" to get a M8.x over the weekend:dunno::sweat:

get get get!!! Joinn us.....

Any idea of used 50mm f1.4 lens (95% new)?

Hi,

I think Alan Photo may have one pc of new M8.2. You may wish to call up and enquire.

Just my 2 cents worth:
I won't buy a new M8.2 now as it will mean that its value will immediately depreciate unless you want to keep it for a much longer time in view of warranty status. If you're thinking M9 or FF in future, then a used M8.2 or M8 is fine. In fact, I'll go for M8 as it's still cheaper unless you are bothered by the sound of the shutter.
I'm still using my M8 & did not upgrade as I feel M8 is still great especially with its 1/8000s speed which I do need often as I normally use my lenses wide-open.
:) cheers,:)
