Hi all! need some comments from you all experts. :)
I have this Nikon F80 camera body for 4 years, still in working condition, and want to sell it. Have original box and everything. The problem is, no one seems to be buying non-digital SLR anymore. Should I just chuck it into the rubbish dump? or does anyone know that is there anyone/any shop/ agent still interested in film SLR?

Thanks!

Give it to me. I love film bodies. haha.

If it's in condition 10 & above (both optical & cosmetic), it could fetch at least $200. Check out the Buy / Sell forum.

try selling it in the buy and sell forum. If that doesn't work, try consigning it to one of the used camera shops at peninsular plaza or adelphi.

F80 is a decent camera, used to have one, just be patience, film camera will take longer to sell, also depend on the model and the price, if it is cheaper, it will faster to find a buyer.

If direct sales don't work, think outside of the box.

Remember the storey about the guy who traded a rubber band for a brand new car or house?

Prices of older film cameras have plunged drastically. Explore other options if you don't get a price you feel is reasonable, which would more likely than not, be the case.

Thanks everyone for the help! I have called up a few shops and all of them said they are not interested in buying film SLR anymore. I think I'll just try my luck at the buy/sell corner.

another question - how should I show the potential buyers that my camera is in working condition? it's a film camera, and I am only selling the body without the lens and batteries. and I'm intending to sell it for around $150, since my camera is already 4 years old. I hope that will attract some buyers. :)

I don't know how to re-invigorate that spark of now "old school" medium in you.

However, this is my personal opinion. I'm also an owner and currently still is an owner of a F80D.

There are THOUSANDS AND thousands and thousands of films that i'm quite sure i've not tried out or you have?... My suggestion is, instead of selling it, y not shoot somemore with film? or if u really just want to "DUMP" it, y not even try your hands on modifying it? who knows u could come up with something even better by just using the F80D.

The good thing about the F80D is its light and soft shutter.

if despite of the above, u still want to dump, then i suggest u help make a wish come true for the needy by giving.

if thats not what u want, then heheheh Charity is me :D

kab, if for whatever reason you do decide you do not want to keep it, and for entirely personal reasons, you do not want to donate the camera, and still have dificulty selling it, consider trading with for other goods or services.

However, there is a thread looking for film cameras for missionary work IIRC. Have a peek there and see where your heart takes you. I'm sorry, I just searched through 8 pages in Kopitiam and can't find the thread for you, but I think it was lead by someone connected to SMU (?). Can someone help point out the post?
