Did some research for you. The USB cable part no. is CB-USB6 which is also used on other 'newer' Olympus cameras for eg. SP-350, SP-500, C-5500 etc. Price on the internet is around US$23.

It looks like Olympus cameras released in 2005 onwards are using this cable.

See if you have friends or relatives with these Olympus cameras, maybe they can loan you for your firmware upgrade.

The next time I go to one of the camera shops that I'm familiar, I try to get one for you. They may be able to get it from their supplier cheap or hopefully, FOC. But no promise.

guess that the success of your venture would depend on how many people lose their cable AND want to DIY firmware upgrade

i believe the warranty won't cover "replacing your lost your cable"... in any case, if they do, that'll be great for all the Oly users!:thumbsup:

Try asking for a quotation from Cathay Photo. May end up cheaper. Find out the product ID of the cable first.

For the C5060 cable, get get from SLS. Cheap too. I had the C5060 before before selling it off. My bluetooth cable and O2 mini data cable can all fit into C5060.

Abit of extreme....i kinda agree...but i'm not flaming yet

I'm no problems with OLY camera's built and performance....but i'm simply pissed on why they made their system so proprietory..ie the 4/3 system, e500 usb...

Not withstanding, the quality of their UW housing is in question...and their product service support...

If i were to get a DSLR ...i'll really need to find a good reason to convince myself to get another OLY.
