They used to dock near marina south, near the mounth of Spore River. Used to have ferries from Clifford pier to bring you out to them. Nowadays, they dock at Changi Naval Base. Its deep enough.
Had the chance to visit Abraham Lincoln when I was still using film... don't even know where my negative is.... In 2001, I visited the Carl Vinson when it was at Changi Naval Base. Yes! They allow photography back then.... not too sure about now after the Sept 11 incident.
If you have a chance... you should go... its a real eye opener. They actually assign an officer to give you the grand tour. I was assigned a F-18 CAG bird officer to bring us around... hehe... you can even peer into the radar screen and sit in the Captain's chair...
Some shots from back then.... taken with a Canon S10....
And finally a few Hornets.... Pefer the Tomcats but, the Hornets are not bad... Too bad the Super Hornets weren't even in service.
Btw, when I was on the Abraham Lincoln, they had a few Hornets painted in Flanker colors from. These were from the ex-aggressor squadrons assignd to the carrier. They decided to leave it in that color coz it was cool... Too bad I did not scan my negatives back then... plus my brother lost a roll which had lots of Intruders. ;p
