It's ironic that you go about blabbering about on how much the world has changed but make one huge turn and continue condemning the Japanese for their war crimes 70 years, failing to take into account the tens of millions of Chinese citizens that Mao ZeDong had purged either directly or indirectly during the genocidal period of cultural revolution. :bsmilie:

I doubt most Singaporeans share your sentiment though since we don't even bother that a former Kempeitai translator-interpreter is now the incumbent President of Singapore. :bsmilie:

1 question , are you Chinese? Do yo know during Communism, about 65 million people were killed. Yes, chinese killed chinese.

go read some books. you can find them on internet.

do you know why China control their Internet so tightly(block google, block this block that??) coz they want to hide the truth...

China is like a newbie photog who announces on this forum: "I wan to buy L len! (or replace with whatever expensive, top-grade lens for your system)".

And everyone starts jumping and say: "you need L len for what? shoot what? shoot XMM ah? no need L len one".

China: "but i see you all got L len leh... and i got money what"

Some CSers will say: "it's the photographer, not the equipment"

And the thread goes back-and-forth...

Actually many of the PRC are aiming for USA. After a stint in US, if there is good opening for them back in PRC, they will go back. (The US track record valuable).
But maybe this one will serve the bond period. Will she take up Sing citizenship? Stop dreaming. The PRC don't have good impression of Sing. It is too small a stage for brilliant people.

The point is not about political systems...e.g. capitalism, communism, whatever-ism. When KMT fought CCP in civil war people died. After that 1966 to 1976 an ageing leader (Mao) launched the cultural revolution. The death toll varies depending on which book/website you read. It is unfortunate for the PRC at that time. It set China's progress back many years.

By the way, the cultural revolution was launched soon after Singapore got kicked out of Malaysia. We had our former hinterland (MLY) cut off from us. No US or European company would want to invest in China at that time. The cultural revolution scared them off. So they invested and set up factories in Singapore. We in Singapore, are the indirect beneficiaries of the cultural revolution.

Upzs For China !

I am proud to be the seeds of Mother Land China !!

Is that a Chinese submarine that looks like a Aircraft carrier? Because I don't see how the Hell it got into that little pond without an exit/entrance. Not to mention a space to 'turn'.

In last night's local news, there was a short report about Pakistan allowing Chinese officials to photograph and take samples from the Black Hawk wreakage that went in to get Osama. The Black Hawk had secret 'radar evading' mechanics/systems.

China is still light years away behind the military might of USA, especially in technology. And China knows it. They have to start improving their military fast.
It may take China another 50years to 100 years before their military forces can catch up.

In 50 to 100 years, the world changes. Former enemy-countries become friends. Former friendly-countries become enemies.
Just see what happened in July 2011. US put the Vietnam War memories aside. And sided with Vietnam in the latter's tiff with China over the Spratly Islands.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4376618...visit-vietnam-amid-heightened-china-tensions/

During the Vietnam War, it was China that supplied logistics, food, ammunition, weapons to Vietnam to fight against the US.

Now in 2011 Vietnam is anti-China.

The biggest monster is not China or North Korea or Vietnam.
The biggest most malevolent monster was, is and will always be Japan. Now Japan is lying low but its ambition is not dead. Their cruelty in WW2 is well documented. Our parents and/or grand parents experienced Japanese cruelty first-hand. So you know what to expect from Japan when it becomes powerful once again.

You truly have a very warped sense of reality.

why is the US asking this question now?
It's a known fact that China bought it, tow it back to China and develope it over 10 years.
If really want to make noise or stop them, should have done it 10 years ago.

US just wayang only la.

Perhaps not an aircraft carrier but we may just have a fleet of these amphibious assault vessels as flagships for our future expeditionary armada. :bsmilie:

Let's say China tests a hypersonic plane, US sure make noise. But when US tests a hypersonic plane, they do not explain.

China shoots down a satellite, US make noise. Few months later US does the same. :bsmilie:

Like little kid, when they find themselves no longer Number One, they get jealous. OK, so can US explain the need for 67 aircraft carriers?

Article by a retired Japanese Vice Admiral on new type of carrier.

The carrier US complaining about was known as the Varyag, and was bought by China to turn into a....floating CASINO in 1998. Ukraine put the half-complete vessel for auction in 1998. A Chinese company, Chong Lot Travel Agency, bought the aircraft carrier for $20 million.

Today 25 Sep 2012 the carrier goes into service in PRC navy.

China brings its first aircraft carrier into service, joining 9-nation club - Behind The Wall

Hōshō was the first aircraft carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy, commissioned in 1922.

China is 90 years behind Japan. So it is nothing to trumpet. PRC needs more (say, 10) and not second hand obsolete ones but modern aircraft carriers comparable to the Nimitz class of US carriers.

Japan had 31 aircraft carriers in WW2, not counting the battleships, cruisers, destroyers, etc....

In WW2, Japan had such a powerful navy that it could take on the US navy. If the British navy had to fight the Japanese navy in WW2, the UK would have lost.

Japan destroyed the Imperial Russian fleet in the Battle of Tsushima in 1905.

It is not just the hardware. There must be large numbers of capable fleet commanders and all the personnel down the ranks manning the ships. No point having nice ships if their commanders are dumb dumb and do not know how to fight a naval battle properly.

The American and Japanese navies (WW2) are battle proven.

Britannia used to rule the waves in the 1800s but not anymore. The UK navy is a pale shadow of its past.
