in a pinch, 3 mths might be enough to get you used to a new camera setup. also since you mentioned that your friend is malay, are you malay as well? or have you been to at least one traditional malay wedding? there are plenty more customs and ceremonies to capture than your run-of-the-mill chinese weddings.
You might want to read up more on the traditional malay wedding practices and also take a look at the wedding portfolio sub-forum here. Some members here have covered extensively malay traditional weddings.
just some tips to help you be more prepared for your first AD main assignment. especially if it is another ethnic group's wedding. i know i was plenty lost when i attended a traditional javanese wedding for the first time. and luckily, i was just there to shoot for fun. there were already 2 pro covering the event (and that is 2 for the bride's side of the family only! not counting the groom's side yet)
