I'm thinking to get the Tamron AF28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di LD, so that it can be my general purpose lens too. I don't think the lens is any worse than AF17-50mm F/2.8 Di-II LD right?

so long it has a motor like your current 17-50mm tarmon, it will work fine on your d40x.
but then again both of your lens will overlap isn't it ?

The Tamron 28-75 is a good lens, i am using one too.

but if your are getting for your d60, get the built in motor one which is generally abit hard to find.

Sort of... I have the Nikon 17-55mm, but I wanted one with f/2.8 which can be a travelling lens (so I don't need to bring 2 lenses when travelling). So dats why I think I'll choose 28-75mm so that there's lesser overlap...

Personally I have a D60 , did some AD photos for my friend a few weeks back . Borrowed a D90 from my colleague as a back up camera . I find that the D90 offers better review capability in addition to its bulit in motor and liveview function that D60 do not offer which is very useful on that day .As for the higher ISO , more focal points ,more FPS and the other more n highers .... I dun use them at all on that day in addition to the HD recording function .

So I feel if u had reached the 'borders' of what u can achieve, everytime need to go to high ISO , need more FPS ....or love doing potraits..and $$ is not too much an issue . Go for the D90 upgrade :)

Btw , I still sticking wif my D60 ...for now ...hee

Hi,

I have this sudden BBB virus urge to sell away my D60 and change to a D90kit with 18-105mm lens. Can anyone tell me what would be the main advantages D90 has over the D60?

Video Recording--- I dont think people who use SLR will bother to use this so I guess its secondary?

Megapixel +2 ------ I dont think this could be felt unless the pictures are blown up to A4 or A3 size?

Camera in built motor----- I think most nikkon lens are now AF-S which does not need and internal motor in the camera for the lens?

But there is just this feeling that makes me wanna change from the D60 to D90? I believe a lot of D60 users have done this upgrade or new buyers fork out more money to buy the D90 instead of the D60? Why? Can anyone tell me why?

Hello there,

I think D90 is better. But for me, as a starter, $$$ is an issue.

Anyway, if you are planning to sell your D60 + 18-105 VR, don't hesitate to drop me a PM, it's just what I am looking for.

Good luck in your decision.

Cameras don't take pictures, photographers do! :D
It's not the camera but the man behind the camera.
It takes a lot of practice, practice and more practice else upgrading hardware alone is just a waste of money (unless money is no issue to you.)

Maybe a better statement would be..
"it's the Photographer + Lens" that take the pictures...
not Camera Body hahaha
