hi, im facing a noise problem with my lens not sure if its normal anot...
When i try pressing the trigger to take a pic, a weird noise will emit from the camera lens regardless whether in manual or AF mode.
However when i off the VR mode on the lens the weird sound will be gone. It only comes back when the VR is ON.
Is it normal for the lens to be producing that noise??
nid u guys to help me out thx:cry:
(the lens is nikon 18-200mm VR1)

the noise lvl is relatively high... sounds like "tik tok tik tok"

It is the sound of Vibration Reduction mechanism kick into action to stabilize the image. Normal and essential to hear this sound, else it will be time to visit Nikon service centre for possible repair work. :)

Luckily you never try to knock it against the wall to get rid of the sound...:bsmilie: I think some of us have the tendency to do that. But it's always smarter to ask first.

...the next time when you take a picture hand-held and you don't hear that vr noise, then you know your vr mode is not turn on.

haha cause previously i was using a Tamron 17-50 with no VC so never came across a VR lens. :P

Triggers are for firearms.

Shutter release is for cameras.

Good to hear your question is answered

Always good to close the thread if that no more concern

HI, just to let you know that mine also produce the same sound and its brand new. so went to the shop few times then finally someone kind enough to tell me why sound is being produce..

Cheers.

Definitely the VR.. Just posted a thread previously regarding this matter.. Try this, on the VR, half the shuttle release button and simultaneously look thru your viewfinder.. The image through the finder will jump slightly which kinda freaked me out at first..

I sent an email to NSC which was replied earlier than expected saying that it is due to the VR as well.. So if you do encounter that as well it's normal, dun get freaked out like me.. Cheers..
