Just out of curiousity. What is the name of kit lens that included in d7k if buy from retails?

The official kit lens is the 18-105 but some shops allow you to mix and match.

Okay, lets say if im intending ti get d7k and i dont want my kit lens. What other lens can you recommend for streets, travels, potraits?

To cover all three? Your kit lens is good enough. Or u get get a 18-200. 35f1.8 if u wan a prime. 17-55 nikkor/17-50 tamron or sigma if you want a fast zoom

What's your budget?

budget wise im not too sure.
because i can't decide whether i should get the kit off from the shop or get the body at BnS section.
on a dilemma whether to sell my d5k too or not too.

If you are unsure of what you want, then I suggest you start off with the kit lens

On D5000 , thought of upgrading my body.

What can you recommend ?

D90, D800 , d300 , d7000 ?

Based on performance, image quality and etc.

What's wrong with your D5000?

Just feel like upgrading

you should not upgrade for the sake of upgrading.

even if you upgrade your cameras, what is usually needed is more practice in photography.

you never hear any one except idiots saying "wow! your camera takes extremely good photos!"

Make up your mind to find out what you exactly need, else things you get now will become white elephant one day.

I upgraded my cam nikon D50 to D7000 which is like Picanto car change to Honda Civic. The feeling is damn shiok. Apart from the price, everything is superb. I love this cam. It allowed me to do what ever I want as in editing, cropping, etc when compare to nikon D50.

If the differences between D5000 and D7000 are great, then you should change.
My bro just bought D5100, he did mentioned that he should buy D90 or even D7000. After he has hand-on his D5100, he told me that he feel content with it.

After all, it's depend on what do you really want together with other factors that hinder you from upgrading to a better camera. Go for the feeling that really make you the day when you got the camera.

My advise to TS is get the D800, then get the 24-70mm f2.8 and the 70-200 f2.8 VRII and he can get all the shots he need. For very lowlight and light weigh option, get the 50mm f1.8 to go with his cam.

There... all set and no need to upgrade for quite a while.

Plus with 36MP and incredible clarity and details, he can crop all he want to get the frame he needed even when he was pretty far from the pic.

No budget and get D700 used.
If got budget and get D800/E
If more and more budget then go D3s used.
If you really need pro video then go D4.

Everything is just depend on your budget.

If just wanna enjoy the saving cost then jump 1 step loh. D7000 should be good enough already.

I think your D5K is sufficient, no point wasting $$, just upgrade lens can liao. but if you really wish to spend, then upgrade it, but don't get the kit lens, go get a 35mm f1.8 to start with. slowly acquire lenses.

I have D5k with 24-70mm. Feel the body is too light for the lens. I intend to change since D800 had been release but it's really hurt my wallet to upgrade to D800 now. Hopefully the D800 will drop soon :(

Heh.

I'm not kidding. TS already mentioned that he feels like upgrading. So he should, as I wrote earlier, just upgrade!

There is joy is retail therapy too!
