Upgrade from EPL-3

U will succumb sooner or later bro the EP5's very worth it at current street prices if u aren't into the EM-1.

Despite getting the EM-1, I'm still keeping my EP5. These 2 really cater to different uses hence why u've the OMD and the Pen series.

Welcome me to the EP5 club! Just got mine from MS Color. Didn't feel much for GX7 but I fell in love with the EP5. Held the EM1 in my hands and the grip is so comfortable to hold. Time for me to test this new baby over the weekend. Thanks to everyone who commented in this thread!

I'm still thinking does it really warrant an upgrade from EPL3 as I am just a casual shooter... not as if I know a lot about photography...

If u r still using the 14-42 kit , upgrading to the 12-35 will bring about quite a lot of improvement already.

Moving from EPL3 to EP5 will definitely bring improvements too given the much better sensor and IS to start with.

Don't spend unless really needed ah.

But sometimes it's not logical la, I was quite sure the EM-1 wouldn't be a body I'll need but look at what happened haha. Guilty ....

Currently using 20mm f/1.7 coz I use it mainly to take pic of my <2yr old daughter....

Mm .. Ever considered renting the EP5 body for a few days to try before deciding? Nowadays rentals aren't that high.

If I'm u , I'll go for the body as the improvement's there and worth it for the current prices but that's just me as lenses wise , I generally am very happy with what I've now.

The $1988 original RRP for EP5 was really too high. Getting a brand new 14-42 kit's around $11xx and a 17/1.8 + VF4 kit around <$1500 which makes it value for money.

Lens wise if u r into primes , (kid's photos) , the 45/1.8 around $300+ is a very good and value for money choice to upgrade to. Otherwise the 20/1.7 is already a very good lens by itself.

i only have the O17/1.8 , O45/1.8, O12-40 and P7-14mm.

have fun deciding think no matter whether its a lens or body upgrade, it will be one that brings u joy in shooting.

As a previous owner of Epl3, I have to say the EP5 is definitely worth the upgrade. I tried taking night shots from my room with the 20mm F1.7 on epl3 and I wasn't impressed. With the EP5, I was like WOAH. Picture is sharp and you can pump up the ISO and it still looks acceptable. I just did a test shoot out at esplanade area and it performs very well with shutter mode handheld.

That sounds about right it's normal la, electronics don't really keep value well.
