I don't think there's any real reason for an event photographer to switch to D600 except maybe the U1/2 modes that might maybe help to reduce the camera setup from two to one. However no paid photographer would do an event with no backup camera.

from a d700/d7000 user
i think the focus sure faster as compare to D800(e)/D4
as for the d600, i have yet to try

if you need movie capability - go ahead it's a big leap forward to have a d600 in terms of features.

if you don't then that probably is just for the sake of upgrading. I won't say no to it, in fact I will say go ahead! Always remember that you should keep a spare money incase of emergencies. Also, if you are very careful user. Even if you travel around the world dragging your d600, you can still sell it for more than 70% incase of emergencies. Our brothers here in CS are willing to buy that for the right price...

It's not a total loss in anyway, that is because you are holding a NIKON

....that spits "black gold" too. LOL

Much much higher resolution and video function.
Other than that I don't see a point in doing so.

But if u can afford, then why not?
