Most of the recommended shops can match those prices at IT/PC fairs, even cheaper w/o freebies which you may not need.

I find those sales staff at such fairs are part timers who may not know much of what they sell.

I asked one before, "Does this camera have hot shoe?" Sales guy pointed at the bottom tripod jack. (probably the SHOE word misled him)

Dry cabinet you can order online with Digicab, delivery included. Suggest a digital series.

That's why I don't usually listen to the salesperson there when I browse through the cameras. The blank stares always get me. Canon was decent the last IT show around and had guys from TK and MS photo there who at least knew something.

not sure if 400D still being sold. the main models on offer will be 450D and 40D, unless they suddenly decide to launch the 1000D at PC show (unlikely since only announced today)

In case you didn't read through the rest of the thread...

the short answer is yes. It's worth visiting the show if you want to look-see, but not worth getting your purchases done there, as prices are not actually cheaper.

IT fairs are good for ppl who are looking for PCs or PCs components.

Nope, not for cameras. Other assessories can consider. PPle usually visit on the last day last few hours, when the shops don't want to transport back their goods, those heavier ones & give discounts.

Skip the fair, go to a regular shop.

Went down IT this evening... Canon booth refuse to sell 450D body indivisually and only sell together with Kit lens... ;(;(;(

400D kit 1199, body 1049
40D kit2 2599 kit1 1999 body 1799

so i'm quite surprised that they wouldn't sell the body alone. i'm also slightly surprised that you would choose to get it from the show rather than one of the other retailers at $11xx

Even though their brouchure indicate the price of $1299.. but after checking they're not selling body itself... Initial idea is to get the free 50mm f1.8 lens for the extended warranty...
