Thanks for the feedback. yes I am happy with the shots taken by the 40-150mm. Very much better than the other kit lens. Probably will wait to see if Oly has any new products at the coming LA's show

Yes.. it's an exceptionally good lens for its price. Too bad it isn't a stop faster and doesn't have multicoating...

considering I got it 2nd hand for $200, it is the best $200 lens I have seen :)

brand new?? with the twin lens kit izzit? :)

The twin lens kit is really quite a bargain. Especially now the E500 is really quite cheap.

Nope. I just walked into the Malaysian camera shop chain Fotokem and it was my lucky day: 50% off the 40-150! I purposely visited another shop of the same chain that was nearby to make sure I wasn't being taken for a ride. Probably due to overstock from poor response to the E-500 twin lens kit deal at that time. That was many many months ago.

Luckily i am 14-45 user,once the 12-60 came out,i will buy it.24-120mm,yahooo.Landscape and potrait in one which is great.This lens + 40-150mm,i got a 24-200mm coverage,great for the $$$ i spend.

Aiya, if I knew Olympus is going to bring out an updated version of the the beast, I would have waited!!! The updated 50-200mm with SWD looks sweet!!

That's another thing with Olympus - keeping too quiet with their developments... :(

Anyway, I'm still happy with the progress of the E-systems. Still waiting for the E-whatever... :cool:

...and that's why I waited... as I read in the grapevine that an improved version of the 50-200 is coming out. :)

Considering the amount of developments this time round, do you blame them? If you think this was being secretive, you should see what car companies do to keep their plans secret and disguise how their card will look like, which is harder for them since they have to do actual testing on city streets.

Got the beast this morning... I took advantage of the lower US$ exchange rate and ordered the beast from B&HPhoto, including shipping and GST, I paid S$1430, savings of S$200 on the beast!!

First impression - AWESOME!! Really worth the price paid for and the optics are really top-notched!! Unfortunately the weather's been yucky and couldn't test it outside but from whatever I could shoot, they look very promising.

Well, the beast is none other than the Zuiko 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 - awesome lens!! ;)

With the arrival of the beast, as far as I'm concerned, I can say that I've completed my collection of the line-up of high grade lens - I equate the High Grade lens for enthusiasts like myself (Not Pro, but wants the best optics at a price that is reasonable to keep us happy and continue with the wonderful world of photography). I've started my jump to the DSLR bandwagon with Olympus and have been happy so far. These are the lens I owned so far and they will most likely stay with me throughout regardless of the change in the 'body'...

50mm f/2.0
14-54mm f/2.8-3.5
50-200mm f/2.8-3.5

Now, where is that damn E-P1 or E-whatever.... I've already told myself that the E-P1 (or E-whatever) will be the next 'upgrade' for myself, for now, I'm content with the results of the trusty E-300... :D

Major congrats on the new purchases. You will love the glass and the pictures that it can produce.

Anybody planning to sell off their original 50-200 just to get the improved 50-200?
Or maybe there'll be a major price drop on the stocked-up 'old' 50-200's in the shops? :)

me go for the standard glass...ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 70-300mm F4.0-5.6. should be a lot cheaper than the 50-200...dark as it may be...still usable, considering the pocket.

My guess of the price for ;

1) 12-60mm SWD => SGD1.2k
2) 14-35mm SWD => SGD2.3k
3) 50-200mm SWD => SGD2.5k

for the existing zuiko lens..Olympus SG will not drop price.

For the new 50-200 SWD to have a price difference of nearly S$1k compared to the current 50-200, it must have some sort of stellar performance -and the current 50-200 already sets a very high standard.

when 50-200mm was launched in SGP..it is around 1.8k. so i just price in SGD700 for the SWD.

just guessing lah..

I hope they price it near the current price of the 50-200 ED... so the price of the older model will drop. Hehe. :)

if so, then maybe can consider that...but then what am I gonna do with the sigma 55-200??
