I felt that the DIY VG that you modded had served it's purpose well ........... for ownuser VG, I don't really fancy the use of AA batteries in place of Li-ion ..........

Too bad I sold off your modded VG when I sold away my KM5D ....... but I got myself another KM5D set, a week ago .........:)

True the grip serves me well. But the one from Ownuser has the batteries built in the grip using normal AA batteries. The batteries in the grip is what I'm actually intrested in.

You mean to say that AA batts can outlast Li-ion ......... quite troublesome to change 8 AA batts instead of 1 Li-ion.

I think the main advantage for AA rechargeable batts are generally cheaper, can buy from any place if you don't have charger on hand.

When used in conjuction to the li-ion battery yes. Not to mention on holiday getting AA batteries is easier.

My need was also for more battery power. As such, I ordered a Quantum +1C which can be attached to the base of the 5D via the tripod mount screw. I get a lot more power than the conventional battery and it can be used to power any of my KM flashes if I wanted to. SLCC tried it out and it works with my 5D

When I get it, I will probably be able figure a way to attach a remote controller to the setup.

To me, bringing the charger and a few Li-ion batts on holiday quite easy mah, unless you going to places without power supply ........ I don't think I would want to visit such places carrying a 5D ........

Bro, got money to throw, please throw them this way ......... :D

i saw a post on the net somewhere (pete ganzel i think) where he modded a KM batt "clip" using the plastic cap. you can do this, hollow out the bp200 grip to allow room for the extra np400, then burn an access hole in the bp200 to run the wire to the 5d's DC port.

hmm.. i don't see an issue leh... plus zenten's right about charger and batts, normally i leave the charger in the hotel room and go out with 3 fresh batts. if you can fry all 3 in one day you've either melted your cf cards, or have a habit of reviewing each shot ;)

I review all the time... and fry only 1 pair in my VG for each day of shooting... ;p

??? It shoots only 240 shots on a digicam like the Nikon 945, how many will it do on a power hungry 7D?! Looks like mass ordering a dozen NP-400s from East Gear would be cheaper and more effective, not to mention a few more chargers along the way...
