Underwater Casing for Canon G9

Hi, I have seen the following

# Waterproof to depths of 130 feet (40 meters)

under the description for Canon Waterproof Case WP-DC21.

I am planning to go Advance Diving course (PADI) and planning to birng my canon G9 for the 1st time. I understand that there is a deep dive which will go around 40m in advance course. Will my casing leak? I am worried my g9 will be gone if there is a leakage.

Has anybody tried theirs using the casing at 40m?

heyz there ! how much did u pay in total for the casing on ebay ?
is there still stock for it ? been looking around for 1

I paid 228 USD in total. But I think Singapore selling at around 280 sgd only. Nv did my homework before buying. :(

Cat64fish and Lovells19,

I agree with both of u totally. The problem really lies with me, and my willingness to splurge on a twice-a-year sin. Maybe you can help me with it.

I would like the following, the most important at the top:

Above average images - f100
Good macro - G9, F100
Full manual control - G9
Wide angle - G9, f100, panasonic
Decent housing - olympus
custom presets - olympus
Price - Any of the above, but not willing to spend on ikelite, which doesn't make enconomical sense, no matter how hard I tried to convinve myself. :(

As you can see, I'm in a fix. I know, i know, cheap and good and everything pao-ka-liao. Everything points to a DSLR. Perhaps I should convert my D80 and sets of macros and wide angles instead. Then again, I haven't mentioned bulk is the last thing I need, have I? Haha....:D

Million thanks for the advice.

I would go for G9 and ikelite, if i can, and plan to go serious in future,

If not I will get a f100fd and a fuji housing, i have one, and its definately better built then canon housing, and no where inferior to olympus housing.

I have G9 and got ikelite housing from Oceanic Focus (at eunos MRT area).

I lugged this huge casing plus arms and strobe during my June diving at Sipadan. Not sure whether the way I mounted the camera / fitted too tight, the front end sponge was pressing too hard on my G9 lens shuttle and jammed it after 10 dives. I continued to dive with the shuttle open for my remaining dives , and sent to Canon to replace it once I came back.

According to other forums, there is a known alignment issue with the sponge in the ikelite housing. When the lens hit the sponge, it'll jam up the camera. I had this problem too, I brought it back to Oceanic Focus and they just sliced off a portion of the foam. Not fussy about it as long as it works perfectly fine. Is this what you're talking about?
