Undecided between 50mm 1.8g and 35mm 1.8g

i prefer the 28mm... hmm.. can cover more area.. what is that term again?

i think with all the reviews and advice from all of you awesome peeps, i have decided to get the 35mm 1.8g..

u already got your answer, if u like to shoot with more space. then get 35mm obviously as 50mm will only gets tighter.

I think it's quite nice actually, but yes for outdoor shots. It lets you get bokeh without getting too close to your subject, which in turn lets you flatten the background. The 35mm will give you bokeh in a portrait but the background might look "too deep".

Ya mean you wanna buy both :)

Agreed.. I first tested the focal length at my kit lens at 50mm and didnt like it. Subject became too close and i needed space to get the shot i want. But with 35mm, it covers more area and i dont need to back up so much. Plus the sharpness in dim settings is uber and i love the bokeh.. And its such a fast lens. A total value of money for a first prime.

85/1.8G is selling for aslightly under 600.

Yup yup, that piece of gem is under $600. Kana poisoned when i tried at NSC last week as i brought my camera to repair. For HDB indoor, it will be tight but if outdoor, wah...haha

Now saving up to buy.

I own a d90. And im finally decided to get myself a prime lens. But im torn between 50mm 1.8g and 35mm 1.8g. And some even say i should get a 50mm 1.8D instead because im using a d90.

Im practically clueless and i dont wanna get the wrong thing. I did try to read up on the different lenses but all seems good and really not helping in the decision making.

Would really appreciate some advice. Thanks!

In my opinion, 50mm at DX is 75mm, which is better for human shooting. I use 50mm 1.4d with D300s (which is also DX) and feel that the background is often left with only color. While 35mm at DX is easier to handle, as when I try 35mm 1.8g I feel it can also be used on structure shooting sometimes.
In all, I think 35mm maybe better as it is more flexible as your first prime lens.
