Uncle, why like that?

the greatest man will also fall because of woman.....

sigh......

The group seems to be separate people. The thinner guy and his wife, and the Ah-nan type man. So it does appear that different group of people in the train are turned off by the man who allegedly watched porn.

whack the pervert! There are people with twisted mind who need to be taught a lesson when there are sufficient witness around. Imagine if the man molest or keep rubbing his kkj in front of your kids, gf or wife, I wonder if you will still want to reason with him.

I am amazed the guy in the reserved seat stayed glued to his seat despite the other people all "siam".

On a separate issue, the Clark Quay molest. Do you whack the man who molest the girl or ask him if he had molested the girl which he will surely deny.
STOMP - Singapore Seen - Two foreigners bashed up at Clarke Quay after girl shouts 'molest'

Yes, but the other lesson you are teaching young kids, or society in general.. is to disregard the authority, and use violence to 'solve' a problem.
And an unfair one at that.

Uncle Fai, are you ok now? did they hit you too hard?

:bsmilie:

Seems like Singaporean Society is regressing to times when the bigger group of fists win, not the ones with the brains :bsmilie:

Sorry, it's always been that way... just that the gov't did a good job suppressing it. But this behavior never disappeared/reappeared. We only hear more about it now thanks to smartphones and social media.

Whack the pervert? Thank you for demonstrating the same brutish mentality.

As for the CQ case, I smell scam. Lots of such cases where a girl says she will threaten with molest unless they pay $$$

actually it's resurfacing. society is regressing

Which is worse - pervert watching porn in public outraging the modesty of pple around or a group of men who took the law into their own hands and dish out punishment to the pervert?

I would think the society has regressed if no one does anything and choose to close one eye. Perverts have to be told to behave before their perverted ways escalate into something more sinister.

Today told off an Indian who spent more than 5 min tugging and pulling at his groin. If not comfy, do it in a toilet. There are really a lot of sex starved, horny and perverted men on the streets nowadays. Don't believe, go and observe.

I am not trying to encourage barbaric ways to settle a dispute. But people should expose perverts and not let them get away with it. You see the pervert in MRT, he must be quite GL so got whacked. The CQ case, even the ladies look like KTV girls, doesn't mean they should be molested. If there is no media exposure, the 2 men would have got away without an investigation.

Oh? You think the first is worse? I tell you there are people who will think the second is worse. Just look at the discussion threads on this and you'd see that there are loads of differing opinions.

Laws are in society for a reason, so that everyone gets measured by the same ruler. Different people have different rulers, and maybe the law will not always serve justice because every system has its loopholes - but it certainly ensures a measured form of equity when it comes to punishment.

Based on your logic, what's next? Lynching paedophiles? What if some kid demanded money from X, and X refused to give, so the kid goes running around screaming that he got molested. So one bunch of smart alecs walk by, and decides that "oh dear, this guy is such a bad person and this kid is so cute. Let's lynch him". According to you, people can take the law into their own hands, but who watches them if this is allowed?

The right thing to do, imho, for that bunch of uncles, is to tape down his act, then call the police while ensuring that he does not leave the scene. He will get his just desserts. Not confront him, scold vulgarities, hit him, and end up having him call mata. In this case, he might still be punished, but so would you.

Instead of spending tons on fancy devices alone thinking that is the way to prevent crime, I'd rather they spend more on recruiting quality traffic police and front line policemen. Pay them a fair wage, empower them to make decisions and give them a real shot at promotion, not just have scholars fast-tracked to the top.

LoL.

where do you think the police get their salary from?

and no one wants to be a policeman anyways.

I know what you mean. That's why I said instead of spending tons on equipment alone. :)

The problem with policing is its a tough job, like any frontline job. That's why they need to see that they have a fair chance of promotions, career advancement bla bla bla. It's certainly not glamorous.

Values la. sadly that's eroding.

The thing is people tend to equate success these days with money and status. Very sad when that is all they can see, been brought up on and been told since school.
