Thanks for your advice, I just gotten the Sigma 10-20mm at MSC today. Unlike the SAL1118, this Sigma one can fit a screw on filter. Can start exploring new perspectives with this lens![]()
Thanks very much, that was very encouraging. Wasn't expecting such a generous remark, very new to shooting at such wide angles. I would have liked it more if the sky isn't that overcasted.Looks good... especially the 3rd photo...
Anyone tried comparing Sigma 10-20mm to Sony's SAL1118. I am keen to buy but not decided which one. I got quote from MS for SAL1118 @.
Wow, same price as the Sigma one? Then should get SigmaAnyone tried comparing Sigma 10-20mm to Sony's SAL1118. I am keen to buy but not decided which one. I got quote from MS for SAL1118 @920.
Wah, got big difference, F3.5 is throughout the entire zoom range! The one I have is only F5.6 at the long end ... the pain ...Sigma just announced a new super-wide angle lens:
Sigma 10-20mm F3.5
Seems like the existing lens but with bigger aperture.

Hmmm "very "big" indoor event..." I can already imagine taking photo in a SIS concert packed with people, there will be so many heads in one frame, spectacular ...Aiya... Use flash lor...
Always thought such wide angle lens is good to take landscape, so I guess, it must be a very "big" indoor event.
bigger price too?:bsmilie:Sigma just announced a new super-wide angle lens:

i'm wondering how often do you send your alpha for servicing/cleaning..?

The irony is that I bought it on 3-3-2009 and DPreview annouced on the same day...
Don't worry, I won't dwell on it. After all there will always be newer and better things/systems. Heard about the Panny 7mm-14mm?Surely bigger aperture means higher price as well.... Also, most of the time you'll be shooting at f8 so i don't think buying the old version is a big loss.
