Looks good... especially the 3rd photo...

Thanks for your advice, I just gotten the Sigma 10-20mm at MSC today. Unlike the SAL1118, this Sigma one can fit a screw on filter. Can start exploring new perspectives with this lens :)

Anyone tried comparing Sigma 10-20mm to Sony's SAL1118. I am keen to buy but not decided which one. I got quote from MS for SAL1118 @920.

Thanks very much, that was very encouraging. Wasn't expecting such a generous remark, very new to shooting at such wide angles. I would have liked it more if the sky isn't that overcasted.

I'll try to see if I can find my photos taken with a 11-18mm lens. Anyway, please do not post the price quoted to you openly as the price is given to you only and the shop may get into trouble for selling the lens to you below the RRP.

Took this with a KM 7D with Sony 11-18mm at 11mm f16 1/350 ISO 200.

No PP on the distortion as I am only using Picasa and ther's no feature to correct the distortion. :embrass:

Wow, same price as the Sigma one? Then should get Sigma ;), you get wider range and pictures sharp at the corners, not sure about the Sony one though. I'm a little bias now. I'll leave this question for others.. hee hee...

Sigma just announced a new super-wide angle lens:

Sigma 10-20mm F3.5

Seems like the existing lens but with bigger aperture.

Wah, got big difference, F3.5 is throughout the entire zoom range! The one I have is only F5.6 at the long end ... the pain ...

Aiya... Use flash lor...

Always thought such wide angle lens is good to take landscape, so I guess, it must be a very "big" indoor event.

Hmmm "very "big" indoor event..." I can already imagine taking photo in a SIS concert packed with people, there will be so many heads in one frame, spectacular ...

The irony is that I bought it on 3-3-2009 and DPreview annouced on the same day...

i'm wondering how often do you send your alpha for servicing/cleaning..?

Almost never. If you have a DSLR, one of the first things you should learn is how to clean it yourself.

Also, what on earth does your post have to do with wide-angle lenses? Please don't troll other people's posts.

Surely bigger aperture means higher price as well.... Also, most of the time you'll be shooting at f8 so i don't think buying the old version is a big loss.

Don't worry, I won't dwell on it. After all there will always be newer and better things/systems. Heard about the Panny 7mm-14mm?
