Actually don't you all realise that if Canon had better quality control in the first place, Canon now would not have to bear additional cost and unhappy consumers so who's to blame? :nono:

Yeah, they are so stupid. Should have kept mum about it and save themselves the trouble, additional costs and still keeping customers happy...... geez....

How to identify affected products:

If the serial number on the bottom of the camera is between 501001 and 546561, it could be affected by the “AF mirror adjustment issue”

wat i heard from a dealer is dat Canon SG is waiting for the parts to come in. so, in the meantime, folks here holding on to the mk3 shld check ur serial numbers and wait.

I don't think there's any cut-off date for such things... based on previous experience with manufacturing issues... :embrass:

surprisingly, not everyone in SG is affected. from wat i've heard, there are some mk3 users here who are not affected. hence, pls check ur serials.

hmmm got mine a couple of weeks back and it falls within the range. looks like i better test my set well to determine if there's really an AF problem!

this was useful, so isit not afectted or affected? cause quite troublesome to go down CSC. my number was not in the list. does that mean mine's affected?

CSC will get parts in after second week of December. No indication how long it will take them to fix it.

New firmware is up.

Canon releases firmware v1.1.3 for EOS-1D Mark III

This firmware update (Version 1.1.3) incorporates the following improvements and fixes.

1. Increases transmission speed when using high-speed SD cards.
2. Fixes a phenomenon involving not being able to release the shutter.
3. Improves AF tracking in specific conditions.
4. Corrects errors in the Spanish and Korean menu screens.
