I have one question TZ1 owners , how is the video quality when played on a TV set?

The video quality exceeded my expectations on a CRT TV. :thumbsup:
Lack the resolution for LCD TVs to take full advantage of LCD TVs' capabilities though, but then even TV programmes don't have enough resolution currently. :bsmilie:

Sound quality however, was weak. I think it may be due the fact that the microphone is located at the top of the cam, rather than in front. Due to the positioning of the microphone, I also found myself covering the microphone accidentally with my fingers, while holding the cam.

Wife wants a camera that can stamp date on photo prints. Does TZ1 have that function? My present camera cannon A85 can only print date for the lowest resolution.

I believe it can. Haven't really explored though since that feature isn't an issue to me.

try to go for picture quality instead of sound/video since this is a camera not a videocam.

videocam function is just a bonus to me, so as long as it record at average quality, im fine with it

Notice the 3 areas I've marked out. 1 is a restaurant signboard, 2 is an outdoor ad & 3 is a community building. Impossible to make out huh? Well this is 3mp with no zoom.

Here's (1) at 3mp 50x optical/digital zoom. According to www.streetdirectory.com the distance is about 0.56km.

Here's (2) at 3mp 50x optical/digital zoom. Distance about 0.41km.

And finally (3) at 3mp 50x optical/digital zoom. Distance about 0.35km.

3mp no zoom. Can kinda make out that its an overhead pedestrian crossing.

3mp 12.5x optical zoom.

3mp 50x optical/digital zoom. Approx 0.46km away.

Make sure it comes with 512MB SD card. This shop in Funan tried real hard to convince me there's no SD card. Luckily I did my homework or tio conned liao. ;(

Its supposed to be bundled with a 512MB card. Song Brothers claims its Kingston normal speed. Am using that now. So far I don't see the need to get a larger card. But should I need one, I'd probably get the Kingston 1GB Elite Pro. Take note that the largest this cam can support is 2GB.

Mine came bundled with a Toshiba 512MB Made In Japan card. No indication of the speed. And well, I got the Transcend 1GB 80x SD Card separately.

I thought that normal speed SD card will be too slow to take VGA video?

I use my camera for photos. If I wanna film, I use my camcorder. :bsmilie:
