As reported by NR website (LINK here)...

Likely specs of the updated AF-S Nikkor 70-200 mm f/2.8G ED VR II are as follows:

Stabilization system VR II
Nano coating
New faster Auto Focus
Weight 1540g (70 grams more than the current model)
209mm length (slightly shorter than the current model)
Minimum Focus Distance: 1.4m (for the current model is 1.5m)
77mm filter (same as the current model)

Well I don't think new is definitely better, but one thing for sure new lenses are more expensive. look at the 50mm 1.4 I find no reason to buy the new version. As for the photo quality on the current 70-200 2.8 the picture quality it produce if one the best. I am comparing to all my good lenses 105 2.8 macro, 85mm 1.4 , 24-70mm 2.8 , 14-24mm 2.8 etc.
I don't think Nikon could made a new 70-200 2.8 that could be more outstanding than the current version. maybe a slight different.

For DX, maybe no BUT certainly hope it cud better the current one for FX ;)

in any case, for DX users, there is pretty much very minimal reasons to move up to the newer model, since the newer model will resolve the vignetting issues on FX bodies...

I think you are refering to vignetting improvement. that is the only one I could think of.

waaahh 70-200 VRII...i cant take it anymore !!!!!.....

The new 18-200 DX VRII has a zoom lock ... preventing from zoom creeping ? :)

yeah. eliminate zoom creep. probably dun it to run ard.

it will be good to wait for reviews and prices to drop. YEN is so high.

Haha! Pretty obvious ain't it? ;)

yea, that lens is near perfection already...

only if they would bother making the image circle bigger

then no more vignetting or fall-off problem.
