I hope you understand what being a farmer is.
Their chicken and goat (probably not a cow) is their asset, think of it as the car for the taxi driver. They go back to make sure it is not stolen.
Also you have to understand why they go to such places. These people are economic outcast. They do not own land, the just occupy the land and claim as theirs. The government are not bothered because that land is not useful for other things and having these people working the land there, they create their own lifelihood and less worry for the government.
Style of living in singapore is unique as island state - while the rest of the world can be very different. Travel more and observe, my friend.

These "predictions" are a "well DUH" thing really. At every major fault (san andreas, etc etc) you can say "I predict an earthquake will occur here". It's only a question of when. So you could take the whole "news" article, replace the location and fault names with any around the world and it would still be accurate.

Saying "nobody better plan a trip there" is also a bit silly, as we CANNOT predict when earthquakes will happen. We can only estimate the frequency and then say if we're far from/close to a tectonic shift. But to be able to say exactly when? Naaah.

Los Angeles, Japan etc are all prone to earth quake, so we all don't go there because it surely will have strong earth quake from time to time? Or we ask them to move out?

Philippines, Taiwan, Chile, Alaska, Korea, Hawaii, etc etc etc as well... All of them "could have a catastrophic earthquake resulting in a tsunami".
