Try lenses before buying?

nope I don't do that but I'd seen some people did that before. Once I was at Cathay Peninsula... saw one bugger testing a 50mm f/1.8 II with his 400d/450d and his IBM laptop... then I overheard "wah, how come it is so soft at f/1.8"?

if he was good looking, then it must have been me. :bsmilie:

Hi! All. anyone knows of shops that can let u try out their lenses to see the quality before deciding whether to buy? When i mean try, i mean just to try out different models & then come back when i got the $ to buy. I saving up for a zoom lens but want to really see the quality of the pix taken by different models before buying as its a huge investment. don't want to buy already then regret.

Service center, u can try to ur heart content without having to pay a single cent..
NSC

It is also very expensive. And the filter holders for it is expensive. And the filters to fit the holder are also expensive. ;)

Try to put yourself in others ' shoes, how you feel if are the camera shop owner?

When the customer don't know anything about the lens, ask you can try 5-6 lens w/o any intention to buy.. :dunno:

Generally, you will be in for a bad experience if you try 6 -7 lenses at any of the shops without the intention to buy. Black face treatment is a commonality. Worse still, you may be cursed if you do this at the wrong store. What do you intend to shoot in the shop to try out the lenses? Ask the shopkeeper to run and see whether your lens can focus fast enough to capture the action or zoom in to capture the action at the opposite ba kwa store, etc. Doesn't make sense to me. Rent the lenses, go out and have a good shooting trip before deciding whether they suit your shooting style.
