Nice series Troy, Just have to watch out for the hotspot on the crab spider's butt. Tricky shot to handle

yikes! No. 18 is a fierce caterpillar!:)

troy, your diffuser is make from the cut-out of a milk bottle?

how is this compared with the foam instant noodle bowl used by teebs? :)

Nice to meet u in AP and nice captures u had here. U did managed to capture quite alot during that short period. It would b nice if u can get there early in the morning, the dews on the leaves, webs and warm diffused sunlights are great for capturing these little insects :)

My camera has troubles with whites, they turn out too white. My blacks turn out too black :/
I would've been better off not using the flash, which is what i'll try next time.

When I was leaving I passed by a tree which had hundreds and hundreds of caterpillars on it! I took pics of others but they didn't turn out well enough by my standards. There will so many baby cats, they were drooping off the leaves.

Yeah it is. Teebs' noodle bowl is for his PnS camera I think. I saw it months ago, and know he's changed diffusers many times since.

Nice to meet you too :)
I'm hoping to get there again this weekend, and will make an effort to get there earlier for sure! I won't be taking the lengthy path I took last time, although it was an enjoyable relaxing walk in the shade :)

My main targets will (hopefully) be:
Tortoise Beetle
Dragonfly/damselfly
Crab spider

impressive shots from you again. how did you manage to focus when the spider's on one of your hands?

Fantastic shots again from you Troy! Always a pleasure viewing them. :)

Thanks for all the kind words guys

My setup is very light, so it was quite easy to hold the camera still while focusing. It was also mid-day sun, so I did not need to hold my flashlight for this one :)

Amazing and inspiring as always mate.
Light set up is good, save the need for tripod. Stead hands is all that matters..
Looking forward to learn lots from u with a similar setup on a d300 body. :)

awesome stuff troy! I will need some tips from you one day!

Thanks :)
Hopefully my pics from today's short trip to AP turn out just as good.
