oh. okay point noted. u can try slik sprint pro for a travelliing tripod too. as for me, still prefer manfrotto and gitzo. but slik is quite good too, jap brand if i'm not wrong.

silk's quite expensive right! haha. you've got expensive taste! oh manfrotto is made in italy, and my dad, who does trading with europe says italians have lousy QC, of course, this is with the exception of ferrari and vespas. HAHA. where's gitzo from ah? france? but gitzos are WOOO HOOO! 600-800!!!

i have a deuter backpack which i bought 12 years ago. it's still in rather good condition, considering the amount of abuse it went through.

the guy i bought my bag from told me that you can't wash it and leave it to dry in the sun. our climate isn't suitable for the deuter bags. hence he told me to wash and air dry asap, no direct heat applied. and after which, powder the bag before putting it into storage. this will preserve the waterproof wax lining.

Regarding durability of backpacks. My experience shows it depends on how you handle the bag. No bag is ever water proof 100% but if you treat the surface with care, the membrane will take longer to break down. Deuter is good and so are all the previously mentioned brands. A good fit is important.

i read the reviews on another local forum, Singapore Adventurer's Club (or something like that) and they were all slamming deuter. haha.

anyway, buy an arcteryx! it's damn swee! (though, 1 bag might = 1 L) HAHA.

what is meant by Powdering the waterproof wax lining???

u realli use powder to powder it???? But when u use it...wouldn't it be full of powder??? how do u clean it away be4 using?? and what kind of powder do u use???

I suspect the powdering suggestion is to allow the powder to absorb the water after the pack is washed, - same purpose in foot powdering. Just powder liberally and then dust off. Any type of powder should suffice.

Thanx for the suggestion =D cuz i always face the problem of the wax lining peeling off after 1 yr of usage

The wax lining should not break down after one year unless it has been used extensively, been subjected to heat (not sure if drying under the sun qualifies here) or have been folded for some time. If there has been no abuse, then the build quality is poor and that model/brand should be avoided.

I think due to moisture, frequently kept wet clothes in there and hardly open it up to air and dry it =(

I guess.. i will keep it dry and open it to dry more frequently when not in use. Hope that will extend its lifespan...
