Hiee...

I would recommend the 24-85mm as a standard lens for the body....if you need (D) then the 24-105mm.

I recently covered a chapel wedding and was surprised (as it my first wedding chapel shots) that the photos were bright!!!!!....and sharp!!...
THough a couple of shakeys...

I use the 24-84mm for most of the time....travels etc. Comparing the sharpness....i think the 24-85 is a little sharper then the 24-105....
for 4R~8x11 nobody can tell....its my workhorse.

Althogh you may read some reviews about the distortion.....well kinda expected for a wide angle .......which you must take some time to characterise its limitations......

SO ...i guess....a 24-85...should be about $350 ~$450....look around....
TCW used to have 2.....Alex used to have 1......K13...not sure...

rgds,
me

Problem is, it's really very diff to find good 2nd hand Minolta lenses in S'pore

And if you happen to find one, take for example at Alex Photo in Penisula Plaza, he is selling it for over $450 :what: tat one secondhanded somemore ..... Tai lan bang he.......

vivien, i've a <1yr old 28mm-300mm, Tamron... posted before but the price is not right... some says it's good for travelling...but i haven't got chance to use it for travelling ;p so, not sure... but definitely it serves the conveniences.

frankly, personnaly i prefer the 17-35 G lense for wedding (though i only used 19mm vivitar before for a wedding event) and travelling... actually it depends on the need and the type of photography that particular person prefers. hence, no standard or so called recommended lense for anyone... trust me, u'll develope into ur own style sooner or later...or rather get to know ur own style. for me, a 17-35mm + 100mm Macro, it's sufficient for me to get what i want to shoot as it is and manipulate what i see with the lense :)

Where is it selling at that price? Thanks.

Get a new Tokina 28-70 Pro Sv f/2.8 constant for $360 .... pay another $60 more for an outstanding lens.

Oh... Thought its a brand new set. Couldn't find it except the older Tokina f2.6-2.8 version... Thanks anyway...
