I would advise you to approach the process of learning photography in a similar way to learning how to drive.
You learn some fundamental concepts (steering, braking, accelerating, etc) and you 'should' be able to apply them to most driving situations :)

You don't need to memorize "oh, when traveling along Orchard Road, I should be in 3rd gear and my RPM should be ..."

That's a nice one.. Cool!!!

If you get the copy hor, share some tempting factors here hor :P

I can't share too much after kena copyright infringement. :bsmilie:
Would post the cover here but I not yet hit 50 post can't post links XD

Below are my summarized version of A for action photography, total got 9 points but I just cincai summarize 2 points.
Action photography
Knowledge is power: If you understand the sport, you can anticipate what is going to happen next, so you can line up your shot at the moment a swimmer break the water surface for air.

Pre-focusing: For sports that are repetitive such as motor racing. Pre-focus at the area which the car will approach the bend for example.

Time to go kino cause think useful for noob like me.

Rhino.... wa... if there is ever one day we will ever meet, i think must siam from your camera if not all pimples let you shot out liao :P

No worry lah. I use photoshop to remove the pimples, okay?

Btw, I realize that the 'local' edition is actually a previous issue of the world edition without the freebies. Cost alot less, different cover page, but same contents. For those who do not need the freebies, the contents are pretty worth it. At least to a newbie like me.

To TS: shoot more. I got my d7k in mar n have been shooting n shooting juz to understand my camera n the different settings. I juz realize that I'm not even half done learning the functions/settings. It takes time, n learn one step at a time.
Photoshop is another learning curve.
I juz started on it a few days ago. But! To quote a friend: "I rather shoot well in cam than do post processing."

Post processing can give u cool stuff, but brush up your shooting skills and it opens up a whole new world.

Don't be shy to flash that camera in public. Juz keep shooting!

There's really a ton of stuff to master, one step at a time n don't give up! :)

How much does the local version cost?
If the freebies are not that fantastic, will get the local version instead.
That is a pretty good magazine in my opinion :)

From what I gathered is that only the June 2011 UK issue of Digital Camera World has the free A-Z SLR tips book.
But normally for camera magazine if what they mentioned on the cover interest me, I will buy and read up.
Somehow holding a physical magazine in your hand and reading feels much better than reading articles online :bsmilie:

Yup, Kino still have the june issue when I was there a couple of days back.
And if you have the membership card, the magazine is still applicable for 10% discount :)

I'd been reading both Digital Camera Mags and Digital SLR Photography for a while. Always get them in popular when i go to City Sq JB for F&M trip every month.
Much cheaper at RM10 from Popular or MPH.

I was asking on the other thread as cannot find this one.
Btw, you all buy magazine, if come across magazine that talks more on canon instead of nikon, let me know hor.
Can PM me :)
Arigato ar...
