This is agent Tithes is just as bad as the previous one............ I really dont
know what else to do with this Metz

Here's what happened:

24 Aug 06 : I send 54mz3 for repair. They told me they will get back to me on the estimate cost.

05 Sept 06: (12 days later) No calls from Tithes, so i called them.
They apologise for not calling, told me to wait 3 weeks for the repair to be completed

09 Oct 06: ( 34 days later ) No calls from Tithes, so I called them
They say no parts.......maybe wait another 3 weeks

27 Oct 06: (21 days later) No calls from Tithes, so i email METZ germany
jUST as bad,,,,,,,,,totally no responce from them at all

In total, 2 1/2 months have passed since i sent Metz 54Mz3 for repair.

NOt one phone call from Tithes to update me on the status, and today it is still not repaired.
I TOTALLY GIVE UP on Metz

That is one reason while I also hesistate when considering Tamron lenses. Poor after-sale service.

really bad service..

Write to Metz and copy Tithes.

Report to CASE

During this period when its there for servicing, do they consider it "under warranty" ?

Why don't you demand for another one to use while waiting for it to come back from repair?
Negotiate with them, since 2.5mths is way too long for "service"....

Unfortunately its no longer in warranty
but you do have a good point about get a temp set
for use............but anycase

Metz has good products but with this kind of service
Both from the agent and Metz themselves....
I guess we really cant blame J&J
basically its Metz thats the problem.

If you look around, nowadays no one wants Metz products
anymore.....

I still like Metz for its engineering and reliability.

That is one reason while I also hesistate when considering Tamron lenses. Poor after-sale service.

last time i sent in a tamron 24-135 for repair cos the aperture reading was intermittent. after 5 days, they called and i went down. was told everything ok. i was in a rush and went back w the lens. to my horror right at the center of the lens there was this large blob of grease amongst the internal elements.( they obviously didnt check the lens for me.) went down the next day they say will help me clean it. went back in another few days time and the lens is clean. ( this time i check everything on the spot and tested the aperture on the spot ( he said eveything ok cos he already changed the circuit board. ) went home aperture not working again!!!!!. opened up the lens myself and realised the slot for a part of the circuit board was getting loose. stuck some doublsided tape and slotted it in to make sure its tide. no more problem. so no more tamron lenses for me too

Thats ridiculous!

So not just bad customer service. But also bad technical support!

I will never buy a Tamron. Period.

I suggest contacting Gabriele Roeper at: gabriele.roeper@metz.de
My email replies from Gabriele have been nothing but responsive and pleasant.

My first correspondence was with Gabriele
She ( i think ) was very pleasant and professional
but the complaint about Tithes did not get any responce from her

It has been 2 weeks already without any word from her.

Wah, thanks guys. I was considering the Tamron 90mm or 180mm macro,.... after reading this, no way hozeh :sticktong , Canon it is then.

Hi Brothers, Think carefully in future before we buy !!!! I would.

But Canon's price is twice as much. May be you can get two and could out last your canon?

Hi guys. Emailed Metz yesterday and this is what Gabriele replied today:

Dear Amos,

thank you for your message.

We regret very much that you could not yet get replacement parts for our flash units in Singapore.
We have already prepared a consignmentof spare parts for Tithes which will be sent within short.

Anyway, we will inform Tithes about your request so that you get the needed support from them.

With kind regards

maxim - to my knowledge your's is an old model under the old agent - JJ. As for tithes they are extending their services to you on good will. I believe that they had informed you that there is no parts for this model (cos JJ did not leave any to them) and I assumed that they did not confirm how soon can they get the parts.

THANKS AMOS
You seemed to have worked your magic.
I hope Metz would not be sending the spare parts by ocean freight
:D

As for Tithes extending good will.....
Tithes is the Singapore Representative of Metz
NO need for "good will"....either you represent the manufacturer
or you dont

There is no 2 way about this
But if you claim warranty there maybe some issues between agents
but this IS NOT warranty ISSUE

DONT TRY TO CONFUSE THE ISSUE
