Hope you enjoy it as much as I do but a piece of advice to you. Never carry the light in your pockets without something to protect it. I mean protect your pocket from the light. I got 3 holes in my newly purchased 5.11 tactical pants thanks to the crenellated bezel and tail cap.

i keep the Surefire in an Otterbox safely in my bag.
just had some fun walking in the alley shining away,hehehe..
Best~!

It is a very beautiful piece I would say, except the crenellation which cuts things. I love mine though.

Ok guys. I've been using a Maglite all this while and the bulb blew when I was on a trip (lucky got spare). Looking for a LED one. With a budget of S$50-$60, which are your recommendations for a small+light+bright LED torchlight? ;p
Of course, where to get them would be good too! :)
Thanks!!

You interested in a Nuwai Q3?

Its a 3W led light bright and good, 100,000 hrs so no need to waste money on changing light bulb, most important cheaper than other lights of the same quality S$88.

I share the same sentiments as Morgan. The Nuwai QIII is not as powerful as some other higher end lights but it is no doubt much brighter than a Mini Maglite. I have seen it in action and I am impressed. Good flood beam for walking at night and doesn't really consume batteries that fast compared to some incandescent lights.

Thanks Andy & Morgan for the recommendations.
It exceeded my budget though, its probably bcoz of the LED right? :(
Let's see if Morgan can help me on this ... ;p

I have a question to ask your experts. For the incandesant xenon lamp, how far is the effective range? Can it lit up an object brightly 100m away? I am comtemplating on whether should I get the 1W Luxeon, 3W Luxeon, 5W luxeon or xenon incandesant...hmmm........

Depending on which type of incandescent you are talking about, you can get a Pelican M6 incan to light things up at 100 meter easily if you're going to Range. As for LED, it will 3 watt with a good reflector should light up things at 100 meters, though probably not as good as the incandescent. Don't bother with the 5 watt at 100 meters. It'll be too diffuse especially if you're using it in a forested area. In general, LEDs are good for urban areas while incandescents are better for rural areas regardless of range because incandescents have more red/green light in their spectrum than LEDs.

thks Nerd, does shears carry pelican? acutally, besides sheares is there any alternative place/s to get good handheld lights? :dunno: :dunno:

Got so many torchlight seow in CS. Need some advice from you guys as I am going to be another torchlight seow also. :D Now, I am using a couple of maglite AA for hiking, cycling and skating. no very powerful. comtemplting to get a luxeon3 or lux5 led light and looking at surefire aviator. what do you flashaholic think of SF aviator? anyone here has it? I am mainly using the torch for biking and skating locally and hiking and for trekking at oversea. which one do you guys recommend. budget $200++. :dunno: :what:

i got a maglite but i have no idea why it spoilt..

was :bheart: because my uncle gave it to me...mini maglite...
also dunno why spoilt...

got change new batts ...

dropped it liao cannot use

You can actually get 1W & 3W LED modules for AA MagLites costing US$30-45.

The A2 is a good light combining LEDs for close-up use & Xenon (not Luxeon LED) for long-range. Price should be within your budget.

By the way, 3W LEDs are more for 'throw' = longer range use & 5W LEDs are more 'flood' or diffused beam aka. 'wall of light' = brighter at close range but not so much throw. For general use the Nuwai QIII should fit most of your needs & way within your budget.

Probably the bulb is spoilt as Xenon & filament wire type bulbs are fragile. That is another advantage of LEDs, less susceptible to drop damage & have longer lifetime & use less power.

Try looking in the tailcap under the spring for a spare bulb which it should come with.
