iMac08, these few nights my mood is sky high with DJIA crashing!
Honestly, I think CNY coming and DJIA turning bearish (even if it is a transient phenomenon) brings me the festive cheers.

hahaha...better don't say this online even if u are a shortist or u waiting to re enter market...i'm sure quite a few got burnt. i manage to close all positions and escape unhurt with some nice profit...though it was better before the start of 3 day drop...

better to recover la.....everybody have a happy CNY...

Its the traditions that make us feel the mood of the festive seasons.

Again, here I am just offering my take on the whole issue:


Chinese New Year comes with its set of customs.

• Massive decor in red - red is ausipcious in Chinese belief.
• Traditional Chinese New Year Folk songs - yes, the clangs are to drive away the monster 年 that was plaguing the villagers. If you listen carefully, many of these traditional songs are very meaningful.
• Spring cleaning before the 1st day. No sweeping allowed on New Years' day in order not to sweep away good fortune.
• No uttering of inauspicious words, and statements that are deemed not lucky.
• Paying respects to the elders by going to them and 拜年.
• Receiving well wishes and giving well wishes to elders, relatives, subordinates and friends in the form of Hong bao. It's a season of giving too. Everyone look forward to this.
• Putting Hongbao below the children's pillow as they sleep on the night of New Year's Eve (压岁钱) so that they will grow up fast and good.

... and so many other customs in detail that altogether make Chinese New Year such a meaningful festive season.


Many may have taken all these for granted, even to the extent of "not-enjoying" this important event.

But many others, who have in one way or another over the years, finally understood the historical/cultural significance of New Year, have embraced this celebration tracing back to their roots, and have passed on whatever tradition they can muster, to their next generation.
