Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 focus & sharpness problem

Hay guys back form my vacation. Thanks for all the replies!! I will definately need to experiment more with this hyperfocal distance, and also get a better feeling for how far things are haha.

Here is a photo I took with the 11mm. Im pretty sure I focused on the building the the people on the right are blurry :) Also...on the left whats with the weird RGB going on there?

Is that considered sharp at 100%?

I don't know why, but this photo seems not so sharp, could be due to not focus properly.
The previous HK one is better than this.

For corner, we can't expect too much as most lens are poor at corner.

I pretty much focused on the middle. AF if Im correct. I will upload more. Lots to develop :)

Edit:// A few more shots. Although it doesnt look sharp at 100%, it does look pretty sharp at 1024x668 haha. The elephant looks kinda soft on the edges :S Should I even bother with warrantying it?

the colorful elephant (or maybe some other animal i don't know) look sharp to me... you used large aperture / focus quite close that makes the background blur?

Yeah I was pretty close to it. I guess for things I shoot that are a farther distant, are sharp enough.

Sorry to hijack this thread. I have focusing problem at f2.8 with this lens. Sometimes focus is spot on, but 70% of the time focus is off with it. But at f4 it's focus will be 100% spot on.

I'm using Canon 50D with it and using centre spot AF. What gives? Anybody know how to solve it?

Does the oof apply to subject in dead centre too?

if you are using the centre AF bracket and the small area is not in focus, then you should bring your lens to the service centre...:D

ok thanks. Thats exactly what I am experiencing at the moment. But the funny thing is, it is not 100% not in focus, only 70% of the time.
