Can't agree more. I've had little luck in shooting twilight shot like this.
Thanks mate. Generally anytime from Oct til Mar isnt a good time to visit western and central europe. The weather patterns are quite unpredictable due to the changing seasonal climate. I would recommend April-May as the weather is usually good and you can avoid ("becoming another sardine in a can") the hordes of tourists that come in June-Aug. Hope this helps for your future planning

Yes, winter has crept deep into the years lately. How about moving south to warmer areas like Provence, St Tropitz then Monaco etc.

Since we're on the topic of Provence, St Tropez and Monaco....
During the months of June-July lavender is in full bloom in Provence. Known for its unmistaken purple tinge and smell. We travelled about 6 hours from Bordeaux to Provence to get some shots.

Then to St Tropez... playtown for the rich and famous. Its quite normal to see Hollywood stars here throughout the year. The icon of course is the bell tower of the town.
Then off to Monaco .. not too far away. Within a stone's throw from Nice, Eze and Menton. Another playground for the rich and famous ... but I didnt think it was that fantastic unless you have loads of dosh to burn. I must admit that the Ferari showroom had me drooling for a while.
When you see the number of HUGE boats in the port of any city you know that you're stepping into some kind of playground.

Ok just a few more before I leave......
Millau Viaduct. Tallest vehicular bridge in the world. Located near the quaint little town of Millau (pronounced Mee-yoh). It is part of the A75 autoroute which is touted to be the most scenic autoroute in France. You cant help but feel the awe from this technological marvel...
From another angle. South east of Millau town. You can see the immense size of the viaduct.
Of course I felt a little itchy and decided to go a wandering to find another good shot. Unfortunately the snow wasnt helping and the dangerous roads on the side of the mountains impeded my progress. Eventually I decided to take the country roads back to the autoroute (opposed to going down a single lane iced dirt track on the side of a 300+m drop with no siderails) and got lost for about 2 hours ... oh yeah i forgot to mention that my GPS didnt have the small country roads on the maps. Managed to steal this shot while I was lost....
Nearby is the port city of Marseille. A buzzing metropolis and once the largest city in France. Nowdays its just another large multiracial city, due to its port links to the rest of the mediterranean. If you can get away from the city center the vieux port and fort areas are really a nice place to explore .. along with the Notre-Dame de la Garde Basilica at the highest point of Marseille.

Thanks. This was a fluke shot actually because I was ready to leave the Millau area but i didnt have enough diesel in my car so i went for a refill at the town .. along the way .. wala! ^_^

So i finally got myself back onto a pc and here we go ....
If you ever take a trip to Provence in France dont miss up the opportunity to see a little hidden gem called Cassis. Its about a 30 minute drive from Marseille. This little fishing town has a cliche merditerranean feel to it. You can take boat rides to see the Calanques on the Med, which are limestone spurs/inlets that have been eroded after thousands of years. Sadly I missed the boat and didnt have enough time to wait for the next one before moving on ...shucks .. sometimes you just cant win.

Apparently settled since 6000BC LB de P was a highly defensive position because of the terrain around it. The castle is somewhat camouflaged against the rocky cliffs if you can make it out in the initial photo. Just another piece of history in the european continent; from which nobles fought and ruled over most of the southern areas of modern france.

I was lucky enough to catch a "remake" of one of the smaller battle scenes atop the castle. during the session i noticed something amiss about the kids watching the show ... can you tell what it is from the photo below?
