Tit for tat SIN-JB entry fee

You mean like the cooling measures we are having?

Haha, quite obviously there are people affected by policies changes but we need to appreciate the rationale behind each change. Of course not everyone will agrees but at least we need basic common sense to look at these changes.

Actually considering that we had been charging them for so long I'm surprised that they are thinking of charging only now. Having said that if the fee can bring down the volume of the traffic jam this may not be a bad thing.

Can't find it in English yet.

"From 1st of next month, all vehicles except motorcycles, must pay toll for entering as well as leaving Johor Bahru checkpoints. Passenger cars, for example, shall see a rise in entry toll from RM2.90 to RM16.50. Exit tolls will vary from RM3.40 to RM16.30.

The Malaysian authority wish to emphasize that this changes in toll charges has NOTHING to do with the proposed foreign vehicle levy."

Looks like they no welcome us liow.

Msian working here as a security can own a car (30k+ for a 1.6!) and drive to here. We, got that kind of salary, also can't afford to own it here. So, fair enough to charge them lor. Else all come in with cars, our side jam like shyt liao soon!

Although I don't like to pay more but I find the increase by Sg is necessary and inevitable. What is the point of owning car if the road are jammed with vehicles?

Car ownership in Sg is one of the highest in the world whilst MY is among lowest. It is necessary to bridge this gap. Whether MY want to add cost for driving into their country we have no right to question. If I am Johore sultan, I will open up the northern Johore to attract more Sg going upwards. Now we are just concentrating on a small section of the southern tip.

I'm struggling to understand why SG had to match the increased tolls imposed by MY. Over the radio, it was announced that a SG spokesperson explained it is the practice of SG to match. But exactly what is the reason why SG has to match. Shouldn't there be an independent criteria for SG instead of blindly following MY?

Simple excuse and justification lah

You never know what is the agenda of our gahment is doing or afraid of.

Deserve? Wrong word. What would you suggest to do?

We deserve a better explanation than a mere statement to say that it is usual practice to peg our rates to theirs.

I think they should just close both causeways and call it a day. Why waste so much taxpayers' money?
Seems like both don't like people going out or coming in.

Today coming back from JB, at Spore customs, 4 out of 16 lanes were opened on the right portion of the tuas checkpoint.

4 OUT OF 16.

THE JAM WAS 1.5 HOURS. AND NOT FREE!
