Timelapse: Around places in singapore

Hi there!

Just did a short timelapse video of various scenes in Singapore. It's my first attempt in this, and I will do more when I have the time soon. So I'm open for comments on ways to improve

did you get any problems during shooting at heavy human traffic locations?
and also like to know the panning and zooming is done during the post? using final cut pro?

did you get any problems during shooting at heavy human traffic locations?
and also like to know the panning and zooming is done during the post? using final cut pro?

thanks! The main problem faced in heavy human traffic locations (like the one in bugis street) is people hitting the tripod. had to watch the legs of people very carefully . Some of the shots were unusable because of major tripod movements.
and for the panning and zooming, they were done in post i used adobe premiere. i prefer that to fcp, haha.

What kind of settings did you use?

Settings were all different in each scene. I prefer the people in my shots to be blurred more so the movements will be smoother and not so jerkier, so a lower shutter speed was used. but i that the shutter in the current video wasn't low enough to give it a smoother look. perhaps the next time i do another timelapse i will try it with a much slower shutter speed.
So in a nutshell i would say, not to use too high a shutter speed.

Yeah, needed lots of patience waiting and getting stares from people. They must be wondering why am i just standing beside my tripod doing nothing :bsmilie:

thank you for sharing. heavy human traffic is another tough issue for shooting timelapse, for me I will try even much slower shutter speed to blur out the humans. will consider upgrade to FCP or premiere when I make enough dough from my timelapse clips.

I shoot stock images, I also produce timelapse and stop motion clips for stocks.

many people will stop doing what they like after awhile, even they are good at it.
I find money is a very good incentive for motivation, especially ones able to produce decent results.

if u noticed... some tv/movie commercials uses timelapse too. either they shot it themselve or engaged someone to do that. so observed carefully next time when u see a commercial

just managed to view this timelapse from home. pretty nice! the only complain is i feel that the tempo of the video can be slightly slower a bit... cos now the tempo too fast and felt everything was rushed through (even though the clips is about 2.5 mins)

another use of time lapse photography is building construction projects, that could take a few months to a year or two to complete.
