i tot tis reply from another fan sums it up best.
"So I was right then
So what your now saying is that my figures were pretty accurate, he has spent the best part of 150 pounds, he has sold the best part of 72m pounds, so he has a net transfer spend of some 80m pounds and yet the best two players at the club one of them was already there when he arrived, Thanks Mr Breen."
We know one of them is Torres. As for that other one, he was only one of a few worth keeping.
There is Mascherano, Reina, Alonso and Agger who may not win you games, but they do all the hard work so that we don't loose too many.
Others like Babel, Leiva and Skirtel have a lot of potential do do more.
The statement above was only stating the obvious and nothing more, and if I may add again, there was only a handful worth keeping.
i think he was referring to gerrard being the "one of them already there when he arrived"
but if you look at the team today and the team houllier left him with, it's in better shape except for a few positions that needs to be settled.
the left wing which was supposed to be kewell's until he's continual MC.
the right wing which was supposed to be pennant's until kyut was moved there to accomodate torres.
we need right and left back cover. both finnan and risse are getting old. and these two new full backs must have physical presence. arbeloa and aurelio are too light weight for these positions in the epl.
and another good striker.
i think peter crouch tiam-tiam now after watching torres whack 28 goals in his first season. that's what a good striker does, score goals and not yak-yak-yak.
