My advice is spend a bit more and get the newer Bessa-R. They go for about US$245 +shipping from cameraquest. Technology makes everything easier to use i.e. more accurate meter, brighter focus , lighter/smaller.

Anyone here bought Bessas from cameraquest before? Why are they so cheap as compared to Singapore?? (Anthony's collection quoted 780 for R1 body alone! )

thks.

yes I have. Twice.

I bought the cosina 107SW and the Bessa-R from stephen on two different occasions. both transactions went well.

I also bought my 15/4.5 from a wholesaler in the netherlands. After shipping cost, I think I paid total S$550 for a new piece.

I received my QL17G3 from the states today, in less than a week after I won the auction! I used Global Priority Variable Weight shipping, total was about usd68 bucks (camera was USD50.50). jfkamera His communications quite bad though.... quite surprised when I got home today and saw the package on my desk!!! Even came with batteries! Rather mint condition.

At first comparison vs Konica Auto S3 & Yashica GSN the viewfinder is more or less equally bright, but the rangefinder is better on the GSN/S3. The canon has more difficulty in matching the images in low light. The split image on my camera not as well defined. Can't wait to try it out. Hopefully, it doesn't suffer from flare like the other 2.

U went thru ebay? Reliable? How u judge if the auctioneer is reliable? Any safeguards or anything besides user ratings?

I go through the ratings mostly. But I've only bought a few items off bay; not much experience to speak about.

I believe there is an escrow service, but I doubt 70s cameras are worth the effort...

Haha... yupz...never knew stuffed toys to be worth so much.. US$860 siah... he must be surprised! :bsmilie: :bsmilie:
