Ah Siang, if $ is not an issue buy F100 or F80. F75 is good for entry levels and SLR "lau jiao" and can take good pic .

Yah, I was also considering the F75 and 300v when I was considering an upgrade..

F75 was good..just that I went the other way as I figured I would get better lense support.

And the rest was history..

err...just my 2cts worth here...no flames, please.

I would get a F75 due to the lower resale value and turn over as compared to the F80+grip/battery. If you are talking about durability I would prefer the F100+MB15 or F5 if you are able to stretch.

And if you need a shutter button on ur vertical grip, F80 does not have it..
F75 does though..

Why? :dunno:

After so many views ...pick ur choice

How about none? Probably a better idea if finances are tight.

I personally think a 2nd hand F80 would be pretty good, since they're essentially the same camera. However I do suggest you look at your own finances first.. after all, you have a D100 already..

Since Ah Siang is starting out in photography, I suggest a F75 if he wants a Nikon. Its for a entry levels and between a new F75 and 2nd hand F80, get a brand new cam for peace of mind.

F75 has some features not found in F80 too.

Ah Siang, frankly speaking, you should start with a basic camera first before moving on to D100. U learn basic driving with a Sunny or Corolla and not a Lexus. Same theory analogy. Just my humble opinion.

Thank you so much & very much for the recommendations. Really appreciated it. After looking through all the tech spec of both body & you guys' recommendations. I think I'll get a 2nd hand F80, but it's kind of hard to find in the market for $400++. I did ask around at shops, the cheapest quote I got was S$590.00 for a brand new F80. Really running out of cash now. UOB is tempting me again.....kekeke

If 2nd hand F80 is 420 and below, can consider but hard to find might have some problems with it. My friend got his F80 AUD$248.00 a year back at AUST cash convertor. CHEAP! Unfortunately, shutter blade got problems.

Cheers.

I oso like the F80, but wats holding me back is the weight.
Coz I still using the old F601 (like the weight).

Dunno about u guys, but I noticed the SLR nowadays r pretty light as compared to the older generation Nikons?
Therefore, if u mount a heavy lens, somehow the camera seems a little off balance. Weight is not evenly distributed.

Unless u r talking about the F100, F5 & D100 then diff story lah.

Wat u guys think?

aiya..... selling my olypmus set liao lah.

I think if you are still quite new to photography, I believe you can stay with your d100 first..

I don't think your girlfriend will kill you for getting another camera..she'll most probably kill you for the monthly film development costs..

Invest more in lenses! It is the lens that takes the image on the film and you off course composing it and deciding for the moment.......getting a second body is not going to improve your photos. Come to think about it, in my personal use I only use one lens for the past 24 years and 98% of my pics are taken with this lens (lens is an old Nikon lens).

Ooops! Sorry, didn't read carefully that you are using a digital one now.

If you're on a budget then you can consider a good condition FE which can be had for under $300. Saw one for sale at TCW last week. You might like to consider the FA too, it's probably the only camera, other than the F4, to have matrix metering with manual lenses.

Spend more on lens as they have a direct impact on the quality of image formed on the film. Some manual lens that I've used and recommend to you are: 20mm f/4, 24mm f/2, 28mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.8 Series E (cheap!), 85mm f/2 and 105mm f/2.5

The FE should not costs more than SGD 250 (even for a black one), I have got mine (3rd one) for SGD 200 (black one) in a fairly good condition, it is my favourite one but thats personal (switching camera on is by opening the lever instead of pushing the button with the FE-2 and turns off after a few seconds, and this annoys me). Highly recommended! :-)

ahsiang, if you are going to get a film SLR get one to take advantage of your current lenses and flash.

So look at the F80 or even the F75
