Email sent to Canon :

Hello,

Recently I took a picture, the settings are as follows, and i was focusing on the subject of the photo, as shown, but then the camera focused on the background instead. Why is that so? It happened a few times already, especially indoors. In outdoor situations this rarely occurs. It has got nothing to do with shooting in macro mode or not, I have tried that out before. This is of great concern to me, because most of the time I take portrait shots like this one. I would appreciate a credible reply to my problem, and a solution would be even greater! Thanks!

Easy method used by all fashion and sports photogs is to switch to Continuous/Active AF and fire on motordrive... got strobe flash even better :D... sure get at least a few frames bang on target one. Consumer digicams may be limited by buffer, but you can get at least 5 frame burst right? Also don't have to worry about cost with digi-image...

Buy new camera won't help you if you don't know technique... know how to overcome the limits and quirks of your camera man!!

Even the simplest tool can be a powerful instrument in the hands of a master.. while a powerful instrument is useless in the hands of one who fails to master it...

"Ambush" where got time take up position and "aim-off/wind speed/trajectory"..."front to enemy and full-auto" man!! Next time Zoe cannot escape while you fumble with camera controls and focussing....:D

So looks like the problem is with the G1 taking the whole frame into consideration when focusing. Many new cams takes only small areas into consideration, wouldn't these do the trick? Like my D5, it focus on about 5% of the whole fame... so this will work?
