Ok, tell you my senerio, currently my intention is to set my TC as my base station. My window PC will be wired to TC. My MB will be wireless to TC. My internet currently will be wired to my TC through my Linksys modem/router. Maybe in future, my internet will be wireless link to TC, by adding a Airport Express.

First, how you set the TC to be a base station? The questions in the setup very confusing.
Next, is it everytime need to use airport utility to change any of my setup? My problem starts when I start changing settings on MB and PC. I think it is what you suggest change to DHCP to solve the issue.

yup..use airport utility. it will detect the tc automatically. for a start set both mb and pc to dhcp...then later if you need one or both to be static then change later. or even better use the dynamic IP reservation to almost guarantee each will get a specific ip.

btw..did you check out the setup guide? see page 15 to use tc to extend your existing network. got diagram.

edit: should be page 15

Yap, I did go through. But when doing the setting up using the airport utility is the problem part. I believe there is a need to assign a static IP to my system. Most probably used PC as my base. Will try it tonight. Once, the wired connection had established and works, I will consider getting an airport express to wirelessly connect my modem/router to my TC. Or attached the airport express to my PC. Another suggestion is to get a Wireless N modem only.

May I know what modem you use for your network. Any suggestion? :)

hehe..the ud30 may look small but can put in a fair bit of equipment in its main compartment.

and havent even use the front pocket that can hold a pro cam body.

Bro, just to share my set up. It's rather old school, but so far no probs.

Phone line to DSL modem (I'm running older Singnet Broadband). From there, the single network cable goes into a Linksys (or was it D:Link) router. One network cable from router direct into PC, another network cable into Airport Express. Most of my house has network coverage from my single Airport Express base station.

Macmacs, check with you, have you ever tried mounting your UD30 on the Modulus belt?

oh....interesting...thanks for the suggestions. Which makes me want to get a airport express. :bsmilie:

technically if replace router+airport express with tc it should work also

Example.
Modem 192.168.20.1
TC 192.168.20.2
PC 192.168.20.3

Set DHCP range 192.168.20.4 ~192.168.20.100

something like this. Should work as that is how my network is doing now.

should work...thats how mine works except i use cable modem. i din need to set static ip for tc. according to docs the tc should be able to detect your existing network once you connect it in.

TQ, TQ ....:)

Guys, I got better idea. I can move the TC and modem router to my living room wired together and linked to my boradband plug. I can get two airport expresses and wired it to my PC and printer in different room. I believe my house will be N wireless shiok.:bsmilie:

ud30 got no loop leh how to attach? :dunno:

Oops! Largest possible is UD20. Thinking of getting a UD20 to bring my 30D w/grip, 35 f/2 and 50 f/1.8 around. Now I'm using a Chimpcage insert and Lightning Fast insert and putting this in my Crumpler laptop bag.

UD20 should be enough for your needs. I was looking at the UD30 for my D2H, 17-35 and 85
